1.2 Software Pre-Requisites

To run the Diagnostic software there are few software required to be installed on the system. User can find them on the Support ED website. https://ed.tatamotors.com This includes the following mentioned software’s.

In the Products link of the website, select Pre-Requisites in Select Vehicle Category combo or user can enter the above mentioned Part No. in ‘Enter Part Number’ text box. Use the Download Software option to download the folder. After downloading the folder, find the setup.bat file and run it. It will install all the required software’s.

2.1 Samtec Configuration

Samtec device if chosen for the using the toll, following are the steps to be followed to configure the Samtec device with the desktop / laptop. For using Samtec device for communication, ensure that SetupSamDiaX.exe (refer 1.2) is been installed. 2.1.1 Connect the Samtec device between the desktop / laptop and the vehicle.

2.1.2 You will find a desktop icon ( ) double click and open it. You will see the below screen opening.

Important Point :

If you have laptop with O.S. - Windows Vista and above and I3 / I5 / I7 processor, then the use Samtec device is must.

If you have laptop with 64 bit O.S. then the use Samtec device is must.

If you are purchasing New VCI, we advise and recommend you to purchase Samtec device.

2.1.3 Click on the option shown above in the image. This will automatically detect the hardware

connected to the computer. On clicking the following window will open

2.1.4 Click on Start button, this will detect the connected device and pop-up a message for confirmation of configuration.

2.1.5 The device will be shown in the list. Expand the details of Device 0 by clicking on the ‘+’ or plus

sign. Expand the parameter ‘Flash’ by clicking on the ‘+’ or plus sign. Change the parameter ‘Storage Area’ to Flash.

2.1.6 ‘Close’, the configuration screen. Press “Yes” to save the configuration.

4 Software Installation

4.1 Software Extraction

Extract the contents by right-clicking on the downloaded compressed / zip file.

The contents will get extracted and be saved in a folder on the desktop itself.

Open the extracted folder, you will find a file called Setup. Double-click on the file Disk1\setup.exe

Use this icon to run the software. Right-click on the icon and use option “Run as Administrator”

4.3 Un-installation

a) Go to Control Panel

b) Find the item Add Remove Programs and double-click on it.

c) You will get a list of all installed software on the system. Find the software you need to un-install.

d) Press the Remove button, then the software will start un-installing.

5 Register on the Site

The URL for the diagnostic support website is https://ed.tatamotors.com.

The User can download the software updates & can get the INIT code (License) for the software from this website.

If the user is already registered with website and have LoginID and Password, the same can be used to login. If you are a new user kindly register on the site using the link New User Sign Up.

Read the terms and conditions of the site and accept it to get into the registration form.

The fields marked with * are mandatory to fill.

Click on Register button to proceed with registration.

After successful registration now user can take the INIT code for the software.

Important Points:

Note that the software’s gets registered against the Login ID along with the Software Serial No when user takes Init Code first time.

Use the same Login ID each time using the website to get the updates or duplicate Init code.

Get the Login ID & Password information from the person who has created the same in case the person leaves the dealer service.

In case of lost of Login ID or Password contact support ed on mail with the

details of software’s & their serial no’s.

6 Request for INIT Code / Activation Code

Once user login to the website Click on the ‘Unlock Code’ option from the tabs available.

Click on the ( ) to view details of the Service Request. Here are the details:

Then click on Service Request link as shown in the below image.

To generate the New INIT code, enter the following information from the PC / laptop where the software is installed: -

• Part number (without space) • Software serial Number • MID code • Site Code • Dealer Name/code

Click save button to generate INIT code

If the appropriate data is entered system will generate INIT Code for given Data. User can get the INIT Code, ‘n’ number of times for the same PC.

System will display the number of licenses taken by the user for the particular software and ask for confirmation of the request

System will inform the user to verify the details of the Service Request.

In the Service Request Details, for the saved Service Request the status will be changed to Pending in case of 4

th and 5

th Service Request.

User can View all the details ( ) of the registered Softwares.

When this Service Request is approved by the authority, a mail will be sent to the registered email-id of the user with the INIT code details. User can use the INIT code to unlock the software.

The Status of the Service Request is changed to Approved now and details of the latest Service Request are been updated on the Service Request Details screen

If the user requires re-issuing the INIT Code for the same MID and SITE code, user needs to save the Service Request. Same INIT code will be given to the user.

Important Points:

User can take INIT Code for the same PC from website without any approval e.g. PC formatting

For duplicate Init Code for other PC should be taken from website, only after

approval for ‘Service Request’ from TML Customer support / Service Area Manager

7 Remove License

Many times it happens that user needs to install and use the Diagnostic Software in different PC / Laptop for different reasons. Follow the below mentioned steps for Removal of License from a system.

1) Open the Diagnostic Tool on the PC/Laptop from which you need to remove license. 2) Click the Remove License option on the License screen.

3) On the screen you will find that the Activation Code text box is enabled for entering the

INIT / Activation code.

3.1) INIT / Activation Code preserved after Installation

Enter the INIT / Activation code you had generated when the tool was first installed on the PC/Laptop.

3.2) INIT / Activation Code not preserved after Installation

Login to Support ED website, and navigate to Unlock Code link. Search for Serial No. of the software you need to transfer license. Click on the details icon, it will

List you the details of the Software Serial number details.

Check that the MID and SITE code displayed matched with License screen. Get the INIT code and paste it in the Activation code of the License screen. (Refer Image 1)

4) After entering the INIT code press the Continue >> button.

5) Here the tool will notify that License will be permanently removed from this computer! Do

you want to continue? Say Yes.

Note: If the code is incorrect, it will give a message

6) Remove Code will be provided to you on a screen. Note down this Removal code

7) In the Support ED website, Unlock code screen (refer Image 2) click the Remove code

icon

Here, you have to enter the Removal code received earlier (refer Image 6)

8) Save the record. If the code is correct it will accept and the record will be deleted from the Service Request Details.

9) Now you can install the diagnostic software to a new PC / Laptop. After installation you

will get same License screen similar as Image1, only difference will be that the software will be locked.

10) You will have to raise a Service Request for generation of the INIT / Activation Code, by logging on to Support ED website. Enter the MID and SITE Code on the locking screen and Save the request. Send us a screen shot of the saved Service Request for our reference. On our approval, you have to repeat the same process for the code generation.

11) Finally, you can run the software.

Important Points:

The ‘Remove License’ procedure makes license free means User can install the same software for any other required PC & get the Init code from website same as

8 Download Latest Diagnostic Software’s To download software documents and reference documents, follow the procedure as below:

1. Login to the website with UserID and Password. (if you are new to website please register as procedure mentioned above)

2. Click on the Products tab from the available tabs.

3. Then under the section Download Software ( ). This will display the details of the product as below.

4. Clicking in the ( ) image will display the details of the product as below.

5. Click on the ‘Download’ button to download the software.

6. Now user will be asked to enter the Serial Number of your purchased software.

7. You can download the software only when you have a valid serial number.

8. Click on OK after entering the Serial Number. Save the copy of software on your disk.

9. Unzip the saved file & install the software.

Important Points:

The valid Software Serial Number is must for Software Download.

9 Free Updates for Diagnostic Software

The purpose of the document is to help users at dealership to get free update of updated versions of diagnostic software. Here, we will provide steps to get free update of Dicor Diagnostic Software which has Part No. 210323359944 This software will be updated with new diagnostic software, TML Utility Vehicle Diagnostic Software having Part No. 210323289914 Following are the steps to be followed for the updation process. Remove License of Old Part No. At first follow the remove license procedure for the old software from the laptop. Here in this case, Dicor Diagnostics Software (Part No. 210323359944) Open the Diagnostic Tool on the PC/Laptop from which you need to remove license. In this case open Dicor Diagnostic Software. Click the Remove License option on the License screen.

Download the latest software i.e. TML Utility Vehicle Diagnostics Software with part No. 210323289914 During download process of the software, it will prompt you for entering the Serial No. Here you can use the Serial No. of the existing software i.e. Dicor Diagnostic Software. After the download, extract it and install the software. This software will be locked. To get license, you can get the Activation / INIT code by usual process. For generating Service Request following details should be used.

10 Steps for downloading and installing Patch

Following will be the steps at dealer end to install patch.

1. Open website, go to Products link as earlier.

2. Separate option for downloading patch / update provided below the full version of software.

3. Download the zipped file, unzip / extract the package the file.

4. Open the folder and Run the “TDS - Diagnostics Updates.exe” file, to update the existing software.

Important Points:

1. The TATA Diagnostic System will have Base Version as 5.1

2. The TATA Diagnostic System will have Patch Version as 5.1.2

3. Patch / update can be installed only if the laptop has base full version software installed.

If Patch / update with version 5.1.1 is released, it can only be installed if the laptop has version 5.1 installed.

Hence version 5.1 should be installed first. Then continue to install patch / update.

If patch / update version 5.1.2 is released, it will be applicable to version 5.1

4. Only one patch / update will be released and uploaded and visible to user for that particular software.

For a TATA Diagnostic System there will be one base version software and one pach visible to user.

5. If the user uninstalls the software, entire software and all installed patch / updates will be uninstalled from the laptop.

In this case user has start installing base version and then related patch for it.

6. New user has to download and install both full version software and patch / update for that particular software.

Similarly, the software CD provided will have both full version software and patch / update for that particular software.

11 Update User Profile Click the ‘Update Profile’ to update your details and then click Update button to save the data.

Following are some Frequently Asked Questions or Problems faced at Dealer end. This section will provide solution for some questions.

14.1 Installation Issues

1) Question / Issue: The Laptop having Diagnostic software is corrupted and is formatted. What

procedure I need to follow to get the software back and working. Solution: You need to re-install the diagnostic software. Follow the below mentioned steps. 1. Download and Install the Pre-requisites required for the diagnostic software.

This can be downloaded from Support ED website with Part No. 210323359949

2. Download and Install the desired diagnostic software. 2.1) You are provided with a CD having the software, Install the software. 2.2) In case you need to install latest version, It can also be downloaded from Support ED website. Click on Products link on the website. Software Part No. will be present on the CD provided to you.

Note: The Serial No. on the CD which will be required in further process. After installation you will get a

Lock screen having MID and SITE code on it. You need to unlock the software using a Activation / INIT code.

3. INIT Code generation and Activation of the Software

You will have to raise a Service Request for generation of the INIT / Activation Code, by logging on to Support ED website Enter the MID and SITE Code on each of the locking screen with other required details and Save the request. If you are raising the Service Request for the first time, the system will provide you the INIT code. If you have done it before, you will need approval. For the same send us the screen shot of saved Service Request. On our approval INIT Code will be sent via e-mail to the registered email id. Using this INIT code the software can be unlocked.

Finally, you can run the software. 2) Question / Issue: Silicon Engine USB / Samtec HS Light unable to communicate with vehicle. Solution: You do not have USB drivers installed on the laptop, with which you trying to communication. Download and Install the Pre-requisites required for the USB device. This can be downloaded from Support ED website with Part No. 210323359949 This will contain all the Pre-requisites, find Install14230USBDrivers.exe named item and install it.

Note: Silicon USB VCI is not supported on following:

1. Windows VISTA and above Operating System. 2. WinXP 64 bit Operating System.

For the same you need to use SAMTEC VCI.

3) Question / Issue: Dll loading error: mscoree.dll / mscorlib.dll OR Diagnostic Software not opening after unlock code.

Solution: From the information provided, our early diagnosis suggest that Prerequisites are not been installed. Follow the below mentioned steps:

1. Un-install the Diagnostic Software from the Control Panel-->Add Remove Programs. 2. Download the Pre-requisites required for the diagnostic software. This can be downloaded from

Support ED website with Part No. 210323359949 3. Extract the contents and run the dotnetfx.exe from the folder. 4. Re-install the Diagnostic Software.

4) Question / Issue: User needs to download new version of diagnostic tool Solution: Follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Note down the Part No., Serial No., and INIT Code of the Diagnostic Tool. 2. Login into Support ED website and open the Products link. 3. Enter the Part No. and press Show Details; you will find the desired software listed below. This is

the latest version of the software. 4. Download the latest version. 5. Note: If you trying to install the software on a new laptop download the Pre-requisites also. 6. Un-install the old software which you are currently using from the Control panel-->Add/Remove

Programs 7. Install the new version downloaded.

Note: If the tool is to be installed on the different laptop, before un-installing, follow the Remove license

procedure. 5) Question / Issue: Access to path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\TATA MOTORS\TmlNano\Icons\SmallCar' is denied Solution: The NANO software is not installed correctly and has got corrupted.

1. Kindly un-install the software from Control Panel -> Add & Remove Programs.

2. Then explorer C:\Program Files \TATA MOTORS path in windows explorer and delete the TmlNano folder completely.

3. Re-install the NANO Diagnostic software.

4. Also ensure that, you have administrative rights to run the software. This error occurs when

user doesn’t have sufficient access rights to run any program. You need to run the software as administrator.

5. Right-click on the software, click on Run as Administrator. This should solve your issue.

6) Question / Issue: Access to path 'C:\Program Files\TATA MOTORS\Software Name\Config.ini' is denied (Mostly in case of Windows 7 OS) Solution: Do you have administrative rights to run the software? This error occurs when user doesn’t have sufficient access rights to run any program You need to run the software as administrator. Right-click on the software, click on Run as Administrator. This should solve your issue.

7) Question / Issue: The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate. Solution: Follow the below mentioned steps to complete the installation

1. Open Windows Explorer. 2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\.

Note: If you can’t see that folder you need to properties of hidden files and folders to visible a. In the Windows Explorer window, go to Tools->Folder Options… b. Select the View tab c. Under “Hidden files and folders” select “Show hidden files and folders”.

3. Delete the entire directory under the above folder. You should now be able to install normally. 8) Question / Issue: While we clicking start button system is showing communication port is busy. Close all other application and try again. We removed the software and reinstalled according to your advice but same problem is arise again and again. Solution: For Communication issue, I would like to know which Interface device (Silicon RS232, Silicon USB, Samtec HS light) you are using.

1. Silicon RS232 - I don’t find any issues with communication.

2. Silicon USB - Early diagnosis suggest that, you do not have USB drivers installed on the laptop, with which you trying to communication.

Download and Install the Pre-requisites required for the USB device. This can be downloaded from Support ED website with Part No. 210323359949 This will contain all the Pre-requisites, find Install14230USBDrivers.exe named item and install it.

Note: Silicon USB VCI is not supported on following:

a. Windows VISTA and above Operating System. b. WinXP 64 bit Operating System.

For the above you need to use SAMTEC VCI.

3. Samtec HS Light - This device needs to be configured on the laptop before communication. For the same you can refer, Samtec Prerequisites - User Guide.pdf of Support ED website.

9) Question / Issue: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNO TREG)). Solution: From the information provided, our early diagnosis suggest that Prerequisites are not been installed. Follow the below mentioned steps:

1. Download the Pre-requisites required for the diagnostic software. This can be downloaded from Support ED website with Part No. 210323359949

2. Extract the contents and run the SetupSamDiaX_6.2.5.0.exe from the folder. 3. You need to now configure the Samtec to your laptop, for the same refer Samtec Pre-requisites –

User guide.pdf in Ref Documents link in Support ED website.

10) Question / Issue: After getting INIT code and unlocking the software, we try to operate it after clicking on continue button but, the windows disappeared and is not appearing again Solution: The problem may be due to virus infecting license files of the software in the laptop. Follow the below mentioned steps.

1. Scan the laptop with updated Anti-virus 2. Remove the License of the software you desire to use. 3. Raise new Service Request for issuing new INIT code / license.

This will probably solve the problem.

14.2 Licensing Issue

1) Question / Issue: Laptop having Diagnostic software is to be formatted, how do I maintain my license in the new laptop. Solution: Before formatting the laptop, the license for the software has to be removed from the laptop. For more information follow the steps mentioned in Remove License.pdf document in the Ref Document link of the Support ED website. 2) Question / Issue: Laptop having Diagnostic software is corrupted and is formatted. The software is installed in the new laptop. The software is locked and need Activation code. Solution: INIT Code generation and Activation of the Software You will have to raise a Service Request for generation of the INIT / Activation Code, by logging on to Support ED website. Enter the MID and SITE Code on each of the locking screen with other required details and Save the request. If you are raising the Service Request for the first time, the system will provide you the INIT code. If you have done it before, you will need approval. For the same send us the screen shot of saved Service Request. On our approval INIT Code will be sent via e-mail to the registered email id. Using this INIT code the software can be unlocked. Finally, you can run the software. For more assistance you can refer Diagnostic Support Manual.pdf on the website. 3) Question / Issue: You Are Not The Valid User Owning the Given Serial No. OR I need to raise a Service Request from the website. But, the concerned person has left the job and the User ID and Password was not shared. Solution: As the message shows, you are not the valid user for the current Serial No (Software). Each Serial No. is associated to a single User Id, thus this logged on user is not associated to the Serial No. In such case, you can do the following: 1) Find the correct User Id and Password for logging into Support ED website and generate the Service Request. 2) If you are unable to do so, raise Request for providing User ID and Password to us through you Area Service Manager. In this case you have to send us the scanned copy of the Software CD provided to you. 3) If you do not have the Software CD and any details of the Serial No., create a new User ID from the website. Raise Request to us for associating the User ID to the Serial No. through your Area Service Manager.

Note: Option 3 is not advisable and only be followed in worst case scenarios. 4) Question / Issue: This INIT code can we use in future for licence transfer? Solution: The INIT / Activation code is for Single License User only. This INIT code will be applicable for current laptop only. If you want to use the software on any other laptop, you need to follow Remove License procedure. For the same you can refer Remove License document on the Support ED website Ref Documents link. 5) Question / Issue: Software programme was installed on our PC, suddenly we find on the first screen Application status shows "LOCKED" Solution: As said, it is not possible that the Software gets locked automatically once it is licensed. For a particular laptop, licensed software gets locked, when there some changes in hardware or operating system. As mentioned you can check the MID and SITE code in the Unlock CodeService Request link in Support ED website against desired Serial No. You can try entering the INIT Code in the details of the Serial No. in the above link. Still the software is locked; you will have to raise a Service Request for generation of the INIT / Activation Code, by logging on to Support ED website Enter the MID and SITE Code on each of the locking screen with other required details and Save the request. Send us a screen shot of the saved Service Request for our reference. On our approval INIT Code will be sent via e-mail to the registered email id. Using this INIT code the software can be unlocked. 14.3 Flashing Issues

1) Question / Issue: Err_OLD_SUPPORTED_SOFTWARE_NUMBER Solution: According to strategy implemented in software, you should not flash the vehicle if you are getting the error message “Err_OLD_SUPPORTED_SOFTWARE_NUMBER” (as it is shown in the screen-shot). But for more information you can contact to the respective domain-expert through the Area Service Manager. 2) Question / Issue: Err Neg_RESP_22H Solution: Please try to flash the vehicle first with ignition ON if it doesn’t work then do ignition OFF and ON and then try to flash. Your problem will defiantly get resolve.
