Qatar Inspires the World 2022 FIFA World Cup TM Qatar is determined to use the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ to accelerate positive change, open the doors of the region to the world, progress towards achieving national development goals and creates a lasting legacy for Qatar, the Middle East, Asia and the world. Facts about the 2022 FIFA World Cup TM The 2022 FIFA World Cup™ will kick off on November 21 2022 with the final taking place on 18 December - Qatar’s National Day - with the objective, in principle, of staging the tournament in 28 days. Qatar plans to host an amazing and historic 2022 FIFA World Cup™ which demonstrates how passionate it is about sport and extend Qatar’s legendary hospitality to three billion football fans worldwide. Established in 2011 by the State of Qatar, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) is responsible for host country planning and operations. The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ will be a family friendly World Cup and combine traditional Qatari and Arabic hospitality with innovative fan and player solutions to ensure a truly unique tournament experience. The compact nature of the tournament will also mean teams will have to endure minimal travel and disruption between accommodation, training pitches and stadiums, leaving players in peak condition for the world’s biggest footballing stage. Human Impact Qatar will harness the power of football to stimulate human, social, economic and environmental development in communities across Qatar, the region and Asia. Families and groups of fans arriving from around the world will experience a secure,human-centered tournament while supporting and inspiring fair labor practices. Qatar is using the tournament as a catalyst for continued progress across workers’ welfare and labour reform and working to ensure Qatar as a nation is raising the bar in the treatment and accommodation of employees. The Government carried out over 1,800 inspections of Qatar-based recruitment agencies in 2015 to ensure they are not charging migrant workers recruitment fees. After the tournament, the stadiums and surrounding precincts will become vibrant hubs of community life - an integral part of the legacy Qatar is building. Qatar is focused on delivering programs that will boost the economy and develop skills across Qatar, such as Josoor Institute. The stadiums, non-competition venues and other infrastructure Qatar is delivering will contribute to a compact and connected FIFA World Cup™ with sustainability and accessibility at its heart.

• The Government has signed bi lateral agreements seeking to prevent “mal ic ious recrui tment pract ices” wi th 35 countr ies f rom which migrant workers or iginate.

• The Government employs near ly 400 labor inspectors to invest igate s i te and accommodat ion condit ions. These inspectors carr ied out over 44,500 inspect ions in 2016, resul t ing in 15,000 remedy warnings being handed out, 1,100 infr ingement reports being lodged and close to 900 businesses prohibi ted from doing business.
