INTRODUCTION

1- 1 . General

For information pertaining to nomenclature, abbrevia tions, publications improvements, and other general information, refer to TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 , For a listrng of forms, records, and reports pertaining to materiel covered in thrs manual, and rnstructions for therr use, refer to TM 3 8 - 7 5 0 .

1 - 2 . Purpose This manual IS for the use of the HLT, VLT, a n d OST

operators dur ing tactical operation of the PERSHING l a Field Artillery Missile System. It may b e used In con- junction with TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 , which contains pro- cedures In abbreviated tabular fo rm.

1-3. Scope

The procedures in thts manual are prrmari ly for op- e r a t ~ o n under usual cond i t~ons For operat ion under extreme envtronmental condi t ions, re fer t o TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 3 8 1 - 1 0 - 2 through TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 - 7 and TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 - 9 contain procedures t o be per formed by o ther personnel

1 - 4 . Use of Manual

Except f o r th is chapter, paragraphs are not num- bered sequential ly. The method of numbering has been selected so tha t the paragraph numbers in th is manual correspond t o the paragraph numbers in TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 . Thus, i f tables in TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 are being used, and deta i ls are required, i t is only necessary t o note the paragraph number in the appro- pr iate column o f the table heading, and then re fer t o the same paragraph number in th is manual fo r detai ls. Where references are made t o tables, f igures, and appendixes, re fer to those port ions of TM 9 - 1 4 2 5 - 3 8 1 - 1 0 .
