MILITARY EXPERIENCE

Michigan Army National Guard (Sep 2003 – Jun 2014)Logistics: Extensive experience as an Army Logistician, with proven results that propelled our organization ahead of our peers. Served in several capacities, reaching 11 cities in Michigan. I Managed a vast array of logistics activities at unit level and above covering all aspects of supply management to include property accountability, supply chain management, budget analysis, transportation needs and issues, food service operations, hazardous materials transportation and storage, lodging needs, physical security of arms and sensitive items, and maintenance requirements of all organizational assets. Led my organization with highest marks from our senior leadership in all areas of maintenance management. Was able to successfully transition into multiple cross functional positions sporadically through my career to meet the needs of our organization. Was repeatedly recognized as having the ability to streamline processes and ensure our organizations mission was accomplished. Successfully maintained accountability and protected over $15 million in property scattered across hundreds of miles in four cities. Continually conducted training and traveled to other locations to assist peers and subordinates, to ensure our collective goals were being met. Established, fostered and maintained inter-agency relationships across the country and internationally. Had a significant impact on drafting our organizations standard operating procedure for our process in handling financial liability investigations into property loss. management of our organizations operations. Was highly successful extracting and analyzing readiness data in order to provide our organization with a clear focus moving forward. Responsibilities included identifying personnel that needed or could benefit from formal military education courses, and secure reservations for them in the course. I handled all travel requirements, and orders requests for any training activities that were taking place as well. Managed databases that enabled my immediate supervisors all the way to the most senior military leadership in our country to track the status of our organization in hundreds of areas of training as well as our operational schedule. Advised my supervisor as to the status of our organization in the realm of physical fitness, height and weight standards compliance, and job certifications. Served as lead instructor of advanced simulation based training aides. Oversaw security clearance requirements and status for our organization and assisted in the initial application and review process. Ensured training was conducted to standard, and that we remained current in many different areas of training such as sexual assault and sexual harassment policies and training, equal opportunity, anti-terrorism, human trafficking identification, traffic and driving safety, risk management, information security, operational security, threat awareness and reporting, and personnel recovery.Human Resources:Conducted data entry for many systems to ensure that our personnel records were up to date and accurate at all times. Was primary supervisor of pay system and handled all issues with pay and allowances. Conducted medical readiness screening for my leadership, and provided regular updates on status of injured and sick personnel. Conducted initial proceedings for personnel injured at the workplace, and followed the case all the way through resolution. Served as liaison to family readiness group that supported organization, and assisted them in providing them the tools and resources needed to accomplish their mission, and have a great impact on our personnel. Assisted supervisors with management of available positions, and filling vacancies.Facilities Management:Served as Facilities Manager for three different Armories in Michigan during my career. During that time, I ensured that we had a positive and productive relationship with local government officials, and local law enforcement and first responders. I was the primary liaison between the Michigan National Guard and local civilian personnel for my assigned areas. Supervised a state maintenance worker, as well as multiple other’s working in our building. Ensured the building met state codes and was suitable for conducting business, and worked with the State of Michigan on construction and renovation projects for the buildings. Daily accountability of environmental and safety concerns and requirements to ensure we did not violate OSHA regulations. Continually attained near perfect or perfect scores on safety and environmental inspections of the facilities.

Company B, 1st Battalion 125th Infantry, Michigan Army National Guard (Iraq)Served as a Forward Observer in a light infantry company, that saw combat on a daily basis. My job was to provide artillery, mortar and close air support to ground troops in close quarters combat. My additional duties in Iraq included serving as the company’s linguist manager, where I oversaw four local national linguists. I also served as the team’s motor sergeant and managed the maintenance and tasking’s of our fleet of vehicles.

Operational Mentor & Liaison Team, United States / Latvia, NATO (Afghanistan)Served as the U.S. advisor on a team comprised of Latvian and Afghan Army Soldiers. Traveled to 6 countries with my counterparts to train together and build our team. Led my element in three separate areas of combat spanning two provinces. Received nation’s fourth highest award for valor. Made a successful return to work to lead my team after receiving multiple gunshot wounds, and continued to mentor our Afghan Army unit. My primary responsibility for our team was to serve as the Fire Support Operations Advisor. Was Commanders primary advisor on all matters pertaining to Artillery, Mortar and Close Air Support measures and the integration of those asset’s. I also served as the secondary logistician for the team, and also covered down on those responsibilities in the absence of the primary. Assisted direct supervisor when necessary.
