Short course description:

To develop communicative language competencewhich includes linguistic, pragmatic andsociolinguistic components through reception(listening and reading comprehension), productionand interaction (speaking and writing) as well asmediation (translation) language skills at intermediatelevel (B1.1).

Course content:

The course is designed to develop students’competence of speaking, writing, listening, readingand using grammar correctly at B1.1 level. Studentscomplete studying grammar tenses of direct andindirect mood, getting acquainted with the topics ofcareer, science, work, travel, health, public life,politics and leisure as well as acquiring thecommunicational skills and usage of grammaticalrules. The form of studies includes lectures,seminars, self-study tasks and work with TELL MEMORE program and virtual MOODLE environment(on-line work, synchronous and asynchronousconversations and discussion forums, interactivetests and exercises).

Grading and evaluatingstudent work in class and/orat the final exam:

Colloquium - 20 %, final examination - 30%, classwork - 50 %.
