Title: Executive Director Reports To: Board of Directors Location: Boston, MA Organizational Profile: The Boston Network for International Development (BNID) was founded in 2004 with the goal of serving as a point of connection for groups and individuals in the Boston area who are concerned with issues of international development (ID) and global justice. Through connecting with each other locally, individuals and organizations of all types – private and nonprofit, academic and professional, informational and activist – can have a greater impact globally. Specifically, BNID aims to: Increase student engagement and awareness in ID issues. Mentor and guide college and graduate students and young professionals as they embark on careers in ID. Foster connection and collaboration among ID professionals and academics with the aim of enhancing development practices. Serve as a comprehensive clearinghouse for ID jobs, events and organizations in the Boston area. Create an accessible point of entry to the ID community in Boston. Position Description: BNID is seeking an entrepreneurial and self-driven leader to serve as its new Executive Director and to steward the organization through its next phase of growth. The Executive Director plays a critical role in managing the day to day operations of the network, producing the weekly newsletter and website content, supporting the work of the Board of Directors, and growing the revenue necessary to operate the organization. Because BNID is a small and mostly volunteer-run organization, this role is part time (approximately 10 hours per week) and flexible (work from home and on your own schedule). Primary Responsibilities: 1. Develop and Produce BNID Programs (45%): a. Produce and send weekly newsletter via Mailchimp; b. Manage and maintain the BNID website; c. Create compelling online content including the blog and other platforms; d. Ensure ongoing receipt and approval of new international development job postings, events, and new organizations; e. Manage BND social media calendar; f. Plan and execute BNID Events: i. Host regular networking and international development community-building activities; ii. Create innovative and engaging content-focused events, panel discussions, and speaking events; g. Oversee intern program and work directly with interns to execute BNID’s programs.

2. Generate Revenue for Organizational Sustainability (25%):

a. Develop annual revenue plan, alongside the Board of Directors to meet financial targets year over year;

b. Deepen relationships with individuals, universities, NGOs, and other organizations that can yield sponsorships and partnerships to financially support BNID’s programs. Create plans for innovative earned revenue or membership models to deepen BNID’s financial sustainability.

3. Support and Manage Development of the BNID Board of Directors (20%):

a. Work with BNID’s Board Chair to develop a plan to continue to grow and deepen the function of the Board of Directors;

b. Support Board Chair in planning of all Board meetings and retreats; including the preparation of Board Meeting materials, documents, financial reports, etc.

c. Support the efforts of Board committees, such as finance and governance, revenue, programs, etc.

4. Manage BNID’s financial accounts, reports, and organizational budget (10%):

a. Maintain routine banking functions; b. Maintain financial records in QuickBooks. c. Produce routine financial reports; d. Produce and track the annual budget; e. Work with the Board to ensure stewardship of BNID’s resources.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree required, graduate training and demonstrated academic interest in international development issues preferred;

2. Relevant professional experience; 3. 2-year commitment; 4. Strong interest in and commitment to deepening relationships and building networks within the

international development community based in Boston. Benefits:
