On the 19th of September in 2002, there was an official ceremony to change the name of the center to honor the late King Hussein, who died of cancer. The new center was thus named King Hussein Cancer Center.  The new name also implied full Royal support for this project.

In 2006 KHCC received certification from (JCIA), the first center in Jordan and the fourth hospital in the Middle East to receive such recognition. In 2007 the center received its second international accreditation as a disease specific cancer center also from (JCIA).In 2008 KHCC received (Safety and Occupational Health Excellence Award) Social Security Corporation- Jordan.In 2008 KHCC received Hazards Analysis and critical Control Point (HACCAP).In 2009 KHCC reaccredited from (JCIA).
