BLO

OD

“ River of the life”transports everything within the body

Blood is the only liquid tissue, it´s because of a protein- rich called plasma

There are red blood cells: carry oxygen from the lungs to all cells of body, also carry carbon dioxide from cells back to the lungs to be exhaled, hemoglobin (blood color).

There are white blood cells, they defend the body against bacteria, viruses or any foreign cells.

And there are platelets, they help repair damaged blood vessels, for example when you cut your finger, it works, it creates a clot and stop the bleeding

HEARTIt´s a muscular organ

that pumps blood throughtout the body

Your heart is divided into left and right halves.

AS A SUMMARY!!!

Page 25: Title Layout Subtitle. What happen with the food that you eat? Where do the nutrients go? To the toilet bowl?

The circulatory system carries blood and dissolved substances to and from different places in the body.

The Heart has the job of pumping these things around the body.

The Heart pumps blood and substances around the body in tubes called blood vessels.

The Heart and blood vessels together make up the Circulatory System.

What is the circulatory system?

Page 26: Title Layout Subtitle. What happen with the food that you eat? Where do the nutrients go? To the toilet bowl?

How does this system work?

lungs

head & arms

liver

digestive system

kidneys

legs

pulmonary artery

aorta

pulmonary vein

main vein

Left Right

Circulatory System

Our circulatory system is a double circulatory system. This means it has two parts.

Lungs

Body cells

the right side of the

system

deals with

deoxygenated

blood.

the left side of the

system

deals with

oxygenated blood.

The Heart

These are arteries. They carry blood away from the heart.

This is a vein. It brings blood from the body, except the lungs.

Coronary arteries, the hearts own blood supply

The heart has four chambers

2 atria

2 ventricles

Page 28: Title Layout Subtitle. What happen with the food that you eat? Where do the nutrients go? To the toilet bowl?

blood from the heart gets around the body through blood vessels

ARTERY Arteries carry blood away from the heart.

VEIN Veins carry blood towards from the heart.

CAPILLARY Capillaries link Arteries with Veins

A collection of capillaries is known as a capillary bed.
