    The 27 Nakshatras:

    Rohini, Uttaraphalguni, Uttarasadha, and Uttarabhadrapada are FIXED

    constellations and are favourable for digging wells, laying foundations or cities,expiatory rituals, planting trees, coronations, buying lands, meritorious deeds,sowing of seeds, installation of Deities, the building of a temple, or any other

    activity desirous of a lasting or permanent effect.

    Mrgasira, Citra, Anuradha, and Revati are SOFT or GENTLE constellations good forfine arts, learning, making friendships, sensual pleasures, decorations, sexualunion, wearing new apparel, marriage, singing and dancing, processions,auspicious ceremonies, festivities, dealings of agriculture, and journeys.

    Ashvini, Pusya, and Hasta are LIGHT or SWIFT constellations and are good forsports, enjoying items of luxury, starting industries, skilled labour, medicaltreatments, starting education, starting journeys, seeing friends, buying and

    selling, the performance of spiritual activities, decorations, fine arts, exercise,and for giving or receiving loans. Arudra, Aslesa, Jyestha, and Mula areDREADFUL stars and are suitable for success in warfare, invocation of elementalsand other spirits, imprisonment, separations, acts of destruction, and the

    breaking of alliances with superiors.

    Purnavasu, Swati, Shravana, Dhanistha and Satabhisa are TEMPORARY,MOVABLE, or QUICK stars favourable for undertaking travel, acquiring

    SHARP (harsh) stars, tantric incantations, imprisonment, causing separation offriends, assasinations.

    1st Tithi Pratipat The presiding deity of the first Tithi in Brahma and is goodfor all types of auspicious and religious ceremonies.

    2nd Tithi Dwitiya Vidhatr rules this Tithi and is good for the laying offoundations for buildings and other things of a permanent nature.

    3rd Tithi Tritiya Visnu is the lord of this day and is good for the cuttings ofones hair and nails and shaving.

    4th Tithi Chaturthi Yama is lord of the 4th Tithi, which is good for thedestruction of ones enemies, the removal of obstacles, and acts of combat.

    5th Tithi Panchami The Moon rules this day, which is favourable foradministering medicine, the purging of poisons, and surgery.

    6th Tithi Shasthi Karttikeya presides over this day and is favourable forcoronations, meeting new friends, festivities, and enjoyment.

    7th Tithi Saptami The 7th Tithi is ruled by Indra; one may begin a journey,buy conveyances, and deal with other such things as a movable nature.

    8th Tithi Asthami The Vasus rule this day, which is good for taking up arms,building of ones defenses, and fortification.

    9th Tithi Navami The Serpent rules this day, with is suitable for killingenemies, acts of destruction, and violence.

    10th Tithi Dasami The day is ruled by Dharma and is auspicious for acts ofvirtue, religious functions, spiritual practices, and other pious activities.

    11th Tithi Ekadasi Rudra rules this day; fasting, devotional activities, andremembrance of the Supreme Lord are very favourable.

    12th Tithi Dvadasi The Sun rules this day, which is auspicious for religiousceremonies the lighting of the sacred fire, and the performance of ones duties.13th Tithi Trayodasi The day is ruled by Cupid and is good for formingfriendships, sensual pleasures, and festivities.

    14th Tithi Chaturdasi Kali rules this day suitable for administering poison andcalling of elementals and spirits.

    15th Tithi Amavasya or Purnima The Vasve-devas rule the New Moon suitablefor the propitiation of the Manes and performance of austerities.

    17 VYATAPATA The Yoga is Vyatipata (Calamity) prone to sudden mishapsand reversals, fickle and unreliable.

    18 VARIYAN The Yoga is Variyana (Comfort) loves ease and luxury, lazy,lascivious.

    19 PARIGHA The Yoga is Parigha (Obstruction) encounters many obstacles toprogress in life; irritable and meddlesome.

    20 SIVA The Yoga is Shiva (Auspicious) honored by superiors andgovernment, placid, learned and religious, wealthy.
