SecuTire™ ™ Link TPMS enables Fleet TelematicsToday many fleets are using GPRS, GSM, satellite and WiFi telematic systems to get information back to the Fleet Office in real time. SecuTire™ ™ Link TPMS can enable your telematic system to include the Tire information for all wheel positions on every vehicle for the whole fleet in real time.

Integrating SecuTire™ ™ Link TPMS will allow fleets to receive tire pressure alerts both in-cab through our SecuTire™ ™ Link and remotely to an office or smart phone. The systems will offer a full range of TPMS functions, allowing easy tire pressure and temperature alert levels to be configured for specific vehicles, groups of vehicles or tire sets (i.e. tires on a trailer).

SecuTire™ ™ Link TPMS Introduction

SecuTire™ ™ Link is a programmable TPMS ECU which receives transmissions wirelessly from TPMS sensors and transmits tire status information to display monitors, GSM/GPRS tracking andtracing devices, CAN bus or EDR (event data recorders).

TPMS sensors are verbose and their transmission cryptic, the function of the SecuTire™ ™ Link is to receive, filter and buffer the sensor signalAnd transmit the information when necessary. This device should be seamlessly integrated with it’s back-end tracking and tracing systems and daily tire management operation easily made (i.e. tire airing and on the road tire change).

The TPMS configuration and wheel mapping for different vehicle types must be easily integrated to the tracking and tracing system. To accomplish this we have implemented an alpha-numeric tire naming scheme similar to airline seating system to easily identify wheel location without a vehicle diagram ie. Tire 1A or Tire 6C. This naming convention is consistently maintained in the configuration, programming, transmission and monitoring and will allow a wide variety of vehicle types to be managed from a back-end tracking and tracing system easily without a vehicle diagram.

SecuTire™ ™ Link is fully remote control enabled, supports several monitoring devices and easy to use plug and play TPMS applications along with a wide range of TPMS sensor options and accessories integrated to provide a solutions with unparalleled functionality, flexibility and value.

TireAngel/EN/14-12/Lim

Page 11: TireAngel Telematics 2014-12

• Tires are the 2nd largest operational cost items for fleets.• Preventable tire blowouts are one of the leading causes of commercial vehicle accidents• Tire management is time consuming, cumbersome and costly. • Tire sensors are verbose at times (i.e. When pressure and temperature change, sensor transmit

several times to insure signal is received)• Tire sensors are silent at times (i.e. When there is no motion and no pressure change in order to

conserve sensor batteries the sensor go to sleep) this is not desirable to monitor tire status while vehicle is parked after duty or performing tire maintenance or if you want tire status for a pre-trip inspection.

• Tire sensors are numerous (22 sensors on tractor trailers is not uncommon)• Random sensor signaling by numerous sensors on many vehicles can lead to excessive data

traffic. • Tires are generally stable when properly maintained. (vast majority of data is about tires that are

normal) • It is impossible to check tire pressure by banging a tire with metal rod or bat or through visual

inspection.• It is a legal requirement that commercial vehicles and it’s tires be inspected during a pre-trip

inspection before they begin their duty.• SecuTire™ ™ Link works 24/7 while most other TPMS systems work only when vehicle is started

and the sensor are on wheels traveling at 20 kph, this creates a lag time between when the vehicle is started and when you tracking and tracing device receives TPMS data.

Why integrate SecuTire™ ™ Link with Telematics?

Page 12: TireAngel Telematics 2014-12

1. Tires is one of the greatest invention. Without tires economic high speed travel would be impossible. Without tires our economies would come to a halt. Maybe because there are so many tires and we use them everyday and they work so well that we take tires for granted.

2. Without the proper air pressure your tires and your vehicle can not operate safely and efficiently.

3. It requires 4,000 HP to stop a tractor-trailer 63,500 kg traveling at 100 km/h, that’s 250 HP per wheel all day in all seasons, year round. On average supporting 4,000 kg each.

4. What causes tires to lose air (by severity)• Natural air diffusion or permeation through the casing.• Air seepage due to improper bead seating, a malfunctioning valve, or leaking valve seal.• Slow to moderate air leaks primarily due to small punctures.• Rapid air loss due to more significant punctures.

5. Extent of Tire Under-inflation in Commercial Vehicles (results of FMCSA study)• About 1 out of 5 tractors/trucks is operating with 1 or more tires underinflated by at least 20 psi.• In addition, about 1 in 5 trailers is operating with 1 or more tires underinflated by at least 20 psi.• Nearly 3.5% of all tractors/trucks operate with 4 or more tires underinflated by at least 20 psi.• In addition, 3% of all trailers operate with 4 or more tires underinflated by at least 20 psi.• Approximately 3% of all trailers, and more than 3% of all tractors/trucks, are operating with at

least 1 tire underinflated by 50 psi or more.• Only 46% of all tractor tires and 38% of all trailer tires inspected were within +/- 5 psi of the

target pressure.

Why Monitor Tire Pressure?

Page 13: TireAngel Telematics 2014-12

• Filter and buffer tire sensor data and deliver data when needed.• Present tire sensor data in a format that does not require a vehicle tire map to

identify wheel position.• Provide 24/7 continuously monitoring and operation with internal rechargeable

battery even when vehicle is power-off to provide data for tire maintenance and provide data when driver is about to begin duty and performs the pre-trip inspection.

• Link to a variety of tire sensors and wireless transmission tools.• Extend your telematics system to manage fleet tires.

TPMS enabled Tracking & Tracing System benefits• 24x7 Remote Tire Status Monitoring• Maximize Tire Life• Maximize Tire Safety• Maximize Fuel Savings• Maximize Tire Retreading Program effectiveness• Drivers are uncooperative at times – Drivers sometimes need additional stimulus to

persuade them to drive safer or slower. Remote TPMS monitoring with vehicle tracking & tracing can allow management to reduce poor driving habits.

• Reduce Labor Cost – eliminate unnecessary tires pressure measurement – print out daily tire pressure maintenance report based on vehicles park order and only air tires that need them.

SecuTire™ ™ Link TPMS function

Page 14: TireAngel Telematics 2014-12

3 Important factors fleet and management must buy into. 1. The precondition for fleets to match their needs with the specific capabilities of the

TPMS when making purchase decisions.2. The importance of user readiness, in terms of personnel training and preparation of

internal operating procedures around new TPMS, to ensure successful deployment 3. The need for the functionality of TPMS (alerts, warnings, data reporting) to integrate

relatively seamlessly into normal, day-to-day fleet operations without requiring significant system oversight or maintenance by the fleet.

Commitment to Success1. TPMS is not computers – truck tires are heavy duty and very dirty, drivers and tire

technicians are not computer nerds.2. Tires, wheels, steer wheel, drive wheels, trailer wheels, valve stems, TPMS sensors,

TPMS ECU, retreading, tread depth and etc. It’s another universe.3. TR number stamped on the valve stem is the official tire & rim association

designation. Tire & Rim association publishes industry recommended dimensions (specifications) for producing tires, wheels, and valves.

4. Even the fleet people, drivers and tire technicians may not know what you are asking about (TR No). Cause they buy the wheel or rim assembled. So you may have to find out these details yourself.

5. Get familiar with valve stem extenders, extensions, tread lock and fasteners and know their limitations and weaknesses. Air tight is not as easy as it looks.

Barriers to TPMS Success

Page 15: TireAngel Telematics 2014-12

1. We are the 1st Chinese TPMS company, our products are innovative and developed from a great deal of field work and listening to our customers.
