Tip on event photography and how to make it a success.

In this session here are some tips on event photography:

- Have an open communication with event organizer. This gives you advantage to know your event and its concept so you can prepare yourself accordingly. Know about every detail. Indoor or outdoor, theme, number of members, number of windows, fixtures, covers, floor type, number of outlet, internet access, storage, car accessibility, list of main members, limit of involvement and dress code and DJ and music type.

- Be first to attend and exit last. As a photographer you have to create every picture and moment that when looking at them you can taste, smell, feel and cherish every moment. This can only be accomplished when you are fully present yourself in every moment and angle.

- Attending early gives you advantage on how to set up, predict the unexpected, prepare all tools and equipment, getting to know your environment and above all to see every member one at a time when arriving after you. Every minute is memorable until the last minute. Be

there until the end and give them a complete package of their event.

- Other than shoot a photo of the entire event as a whole, take a close up shots as much as you can. Close up shots brings out and displays the feel of the moment. Close up from main and important members, in wedding the first kiss and cake details, in award ceremonies, award acceptance and award details, If anniversary, the eyes and smiles, birthdays, candle blow and so on. These are treasure moments that can last.

- If you find yourself in a fast paste environment, use quick set shots and keep going not to lose any moment.

- Be creative, use your color setting and change take some black and white pictures of those moments.

- Always be ready and expect the unexpected. As a photographer, not only you should look for special moment to take pictures but also you should expect the unexpected and anticipate it so it won’t surprise you. As an example, nature can be a tricky thing to predict. Rain, lightening, wind and cloud can impact every photo. Other example is not to expect everything in that event go the way it was planned, such as, guest showing up late, lights go off and someone bumps into your equipment. Always be ready!
