In many batch processing operations, recovery is a bottleneck. This led a contract manufacturer of specialty chemicals to embark

“de-bottlenecking” project, which included integrating a new solvent recovery mixer into the process and managing process data

combined an Ethernet backbone with PROFIBUS, an AS-Interface bus, and the advanced SISystem in a Siemens network topology

reduced installation costs and simplied remote troubleshooting. Monitoring process data in the recovery system had a signica

impact on efciency and cost savings, reducing processing time by 12 to 14 hours. And the new bus technology allows engineer

easily add a transmitter or control valve—a simple connection, and it becomes another node on the network.

with the manufacturer of a liquid-based adhesive on a from-the-ground-up solution for a new processing plant. We designed and built

all process control, instrumentation, and electrical supply systems; provided all software and documentation; supplied all necessary

hardware and equipment; and commissioned the entire system. The result is a plant that produces four times more efciently and at

the lowest cost per ton in the industry. In addition, simplied on-site supply of emulsions has reduced material costs, while enhanced

automation has increased the reliability of production estimates.
