A s a maker, DI Y k ind of g uy, I assumed ever yone would want to bui ld t heir ow n Tiny House. Of course, t hat isn’t t r ue, but it i s t he market niche we ser ve.

We have been prov iding Str uctura l Insulated Panel (SIP) packages to ow ner-bui lders for over 20 yea rs, so it was nat ura l we would wa nt to help T iny House bui lders in t he same way.

Since Tiny Houses on Wheels (THoWs) need a properly engineered tra i ler upon which to at tach t he house, we were d raw n into designing - a nd hav ing eng ineered - t hat component as wel l .

Today we prov ide a va r iet y of s tock pla ns for T HoW shel ls in t hree w idt hs, seven leng t hs a nd seven roof s t yles. Each of t hese pla ns c a n be semi- customized f rom a 3D model. By shar ing our computer screen w it h you no mat ter where you are, in rea l t ime we can rotate the 3D model, mov ing w indows and doors, and changing the sizes to ma ke it YOUR home .

When you order a shel l package f rom us, we pick up your tra i ler, load the SIP package a nd accessor ies onto it a nd t hen we del iver it (i f you wa nt us to show you how to assemble t he package), or have it del ivered to your bui ld site . Our main market area covers Washing ton, Oregon and nor t her n Ca l i for nia, w it h occasiona l t r ips to Ida ho, Montana and Nevada.

Beyond t hat geographic a l reg ion, t here are t hree opt ions: 1) we can have the trai ler/SIP package ready for you to pick up in Vancouver,WA; 2) we can prov ide you w ith the plans for both the tra i ler and the SIP package and you source t he products in your area; or 3) we can work w ith trai ler and SIP manufacturers as close to you as possible, so you could t hen pick t hem up more easi ly.

He l ived in a 17 7-square -foot accessor y dwel l ing unit in SE Por t land whi le in col lege as wel l as in a 16’x24’ cabin in Hood R iver, Oregon w it h a spr ing for water and an outdoor shower, where he lear ned to ba ke in a wood cook stove, chur n but ter and ra ise honeybees.

The key deter minants in selec t ing a t ra i ler are t he weight , w idt h and leng t h of your t iny house. Tra i lers are designed to c ar r y a Gross Vehicle Weight (GV W ) as wel l as a ma x imum weight on t he tong ue so t hey w i l l pu l l properly.

Our t ra i lers are manufact ured in leng t hs of 16’, 20’, 24’, 28’ and a 5t h-wheel version t hat is 32’ (24’ dow n and 8’ up on t he neck) or 36’ (w it h 8’ up and 28’ dow n).

Str uctural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are a high-per formance, green bui lding system that i s ex t remely st rong, energ y- ef f ic ient a nd cost- ef fec t ive, and require no add it iona l f rame or skeleton for suppor t . They consist of an insulat ing ex panded polyst y rene (EPS) foa m core sa ndw iched bet ween t wo fac ings of or iented st ra nd boa rd (OSB), using a st r uct ura l ad hesive. SIPs c an be fabr ic ated to f it nearly any bui ld ing design. A r t isan T iny House’s SIPs ar r ive w it h a l l w indow and door openings cut out and are routed for w ir ing and lumber.

SIPs dramat ica l ly reduce a ir t ransfer through the f loor, wal ls and roof by minimizing joints, and prov ide sol id, cont inuous insulat ion across each panel’s height, w idth and dept h. A r t isa n T iny House’s s ta nda rd pack age for a t iny house on wheels includes f loor, wa l ls and roof SIPs t hat are 4-1/2” (R-16).

Thicker SIPs w ith higher R-va lues or for higher snow loads are avai lable as an opt ion. We c an now a lso prov ide 4-1/2” (R-20) or 6 -1/2” (R-30) SIPs - see below.
