A number of weeks ago I sought support for my son Joey, in regards to Farrer Memorial Agricul- tural High Schools campaign to raise funds for The Leukaemia Foundation. I am just so appreciative and indebted to everyone that supported Joey in this quest. The spirit within the community was astonishing and from the bottom of my heart; I say thank you. Special mention must go to those families and teachers who donated through Joeys Shave for a Curepage. Further praise goes out to the SRC. The SRC decided to implement and organise a Mufti and Cupcake day raising funds for the abovementioned cause. A super effort from the SRC. Tintinhull Public School as a collective group raised just over $1200. This figure has me speechless. At the last count Farrer raised a massive $51,000 and a chance to climb. Wonderful Community Spirit

It gives me great pleasure to write this thank you letter to Tintinhull Public School and the school community as a whole. A number of weeks ago I sought support for my son Joey, in regards to Farrer Memorial Agricul-tural High School’s campaign to raise funds for The Leukaemia Foundation. Tintinhull Public School as a collective group raised just over $1200. This figure has me speechless. At the last count Farrer raised a massive $51,000 and a chance to climb.

Other animals we got to see and learn about were bearded dragons, long necked and snake necked turtles and 3 different snake species – green tree python, olive python and jungle python.

There was one final special visitor for the students to see and hold yesterday. A baby salt water crocodile! We all overcome our fear, held it and gave the camera a big smile.

The show has certainly been a highlight of the year so far.

Athletics Carnival

This year we will be combining our athletics carnival

with Timbumburi PS. Our schools have formed a

partnership as we have many similarities. Both

schools’ staff have been working closely together and

we have combined a lot of joint learning during our

staff development days. This partnership is a

‘community of schools’ initiative which the

Department of Education fully encourages, hence I

was extremely pleased that we are able to join them

for the athletics carnival and compete against

students from their school.

We will have separate age champions and runners

up, however our students will be competing against

Timbumburi students in running and field events.

The athletics carnival will be held Friday 7 May at the

new athletics track. This is much earlier than we

normally run our carnival, however it is very difficult

to get bookings and fitting in all schools at the new

track.

We will still be competing at the small school’s

carnival at Dungowan for those students who want to

and we will also be sending students to the Zone

carnival if they qualify.

Any questions regarding any of this, please contact the school and I will be happy to field your enquiries.

Harmony Day

This Friday, Tintinhull Public School will participate in

Harmony Day. All students will dance in

synchronisation to five dances from around the world.

The students have been working hard in class over

the past month to perfect their moves. These dances

include: ‘The Salsa’, ‘Belly Dancing’, ‘Hip Hop’,

‘Bollywood’ and an ‘African Dance’. Students will

wear their normal sports uniform. It is not mufti as we

have just had such a day.

The overall message of Harmony Day promotes social cohesion and racial harmony, and it is expressed through community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect and belonging. These are the important messages the school will focus on come Friday.
