This digipak shows a stereotypical male rapper representations as Tinie Tempah's wearing all black and has sunglasses on, wearing 'bling' making him seem quite 'flashy' which is the archetypal dress codes of a rapper. He has direct mode of address looking right at the audience with a serious expression implying he means ‘business’ alluding to his masculinity as it is a very male thing to do. He has his arms clasped together linking to his serious facial expression about him only being about business only. The city in his arms seems to be New York because of the Empire State building standing out; the fact that he has New York in his arms creates religious imagery making him seem god-like alluding to him taking control of New York. This could also implies how he concord New York with his music how he has become really popular over there.

Iconography

New York City is very iconic on the front cover, as New York is usually the place in disaster films that gets destroyed because it's iconic and also creates verisimilitude so it seems more real; the fact Tinie Tempah has his arms around it like he's the controller of the city infers to my point of New York always being the place of target. The fact he is in some sort of galaxy seems iconic for is god-like stance making him seem omnipotent. The colour purple creates quote a spiritual protection feel like he's the god protecting the city, the fact he is dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses makes him seem like a bouncer guarding the universe an apparently NYC. The title of the album is called 'Discovery' or 'Disc-covery' which is a pun alluding to the fact it's a CD cover.

Narrative Events

This digipak definitely has narrative enigma as you question why is he in space? Why does he have NYC in his arms? I think this digipak links to one of his songs called 'Written in the Stars' which links to why he's in space and shining but the song is about power and change talking about how he was 'A kid no one cared about' and how he's 'trying to turn a tenner into a hundred grand' connoting why is holding NYC as he is trying to show them how anyone can be in control or famous explaining how he was just a child on the street and is now a famous rapper. However that is just an assumption that the story is very unclear which is why it’s full of enigma.

Technical codes

There is a mid shot of Tinie Tempah holding NYC making him seem god-like. The lighting is quite high key for the setting of space; the fact the lighting shines down on his head making him sparkle adds that god-like imagery making him seem that more angelic more of a religious symbol. The typography is very retro and matches the galaxy/space background. The writing is in white which stands out against the colour background but could also allude to an astronaut because their archetypal dress codes are white space suits and they stereotypically wander in space.

Setting

The setting is in space in some sort of galaxy with lots of stars creating quite an astronomical feel. The predominant colour of purple in the background on the covers and the disk evokes a spiritual feel which is emphasised with the title 'Discovery' as you discover ones spirituality. The fact that it is set I space just emphasises some of the tracks on this artist’s digipak. The iconic setting of NYC in the artist’s arms links to my point of Nee York always being the point of interest as it is an Iconic place that many will recognise.
