CHAMPIONS PLAYGROUND Week #1: Champions Unite

*Leader decides the teamwork points for the group. *1 leader from each group to act as station master for the different stations. 3. Time allocated for each station: 15mins 4. Memory Verse – Romans 12:4

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function.” The verse will be divided into 6 parts, and the leader will tell the children one part of the verse after each station. At the end of the whole game, children are to recite the whole verse to the leader.

__________________________________________________________________________ Station 1: Broken Telephone (via pictures) 15 min How to play: Children have to go through both levels to get 10 points for performance. They are to sit facing the front. The last child will draw and tap the child in front of him/her to look at the drawn picture for 5 seconds. Each child will have 20 seconds to draw the picture, and 5 seconds to show the picture to the person down the line. The child is not allowed to pass the paper to the person down the line for them to copy. He/She is to show the picture only. Limit of up to six children in a line. Rotate the children playing if there are more than six.

Station master to tell first child a word and he/she is to draw a picture based on the given word. Message is passed down through drawing. Last child to guess the correct word.

Station master to tell first child a word. First child draws, 2nd child will write down what he/she thinks the drawing is. 3rd child draws a picture of based on the 2nd child’s word, etc. Last child will guess the word. *Must have even number of children in line for

Station 2: Water Alphabet (15 min) How to play: Children will line up in a row and take turns to pick up the letters on the ping pong balls in the basin of water. Leader will give the word that the children need to form before the game starts. Children will then pick up the letters needed to form that word. The last child to pick up the last letter of that word will form the word for the station master to check. (Refer to picture attached on the next page) After which, the station master will put back the ping pong balls into the basin. Leader can then release the next word to the group.

Children to form a given word by scooping letters placed in a basin of water using a spoon. Letters are written on ping pong balls in a basin of water. (2 ping pong balls per letter: A, E, T, M, L, O, V, U, S, R) Leader of the group to read out the letters to be scooped up from the water to the children. Time for this level: 5 minutes Words to be formed: A E T M (Team / meat)

Children to form the longest word with letters picked. One minute will be given to them to pick as many letters as they can, and 1 more minute for them to form the word. Failure to do so they will not get any points.

Station 3: Dizzy me (15 min)

How to play: Children will line up in a row behind the starting line and do the following actions listed below; the main aim is to see how many coins each child can toss into the bowl to earn points for his/her group. 1. Jumping jacks x5 2. Spin (Elephant spins) in circles x10 3. Walk on a straight line (Paste masking tape to show the straight line.) 4. Toss a coin into a bowl from a distance Scoring: Less than 5 coins in bowl = 5 points More than 10 = 10 points

Starting line : Station 4: Mimic the picture (15 min) How to play: 1. Group will choose the number of children to pose the following picture given to them. 2. Station Master must check if the poses done are correct.

E.g. kungfu panda, children have to do same pose as animals in picture.

3. Children can assist their friends by helping them, slight movement allowed during the one minute given to pose and hold the posing.

Not acceptable: Putting leg down while trying to hold the leg up. Leaders can take picture of the poses done by their own group (optional). Scoring: There are altogether 10 pictures plus one optional picture; 1 point for each

correct pose done for that picture (Maximum 10 points).

Station 5: Telepathy (15 min) How to play: 1. Children are to pair up.

2. Pairs have to pick same set of words as partner (e.g white chocolate or dark

chocolate).

3. Pairs have to say the correct word at the same time to earn ½ point each.

1. Players to form a straight line facing station master. Station master will call out a random word and all of the players have to do the same action telepathically at the same time.

Word list that the children have to act out:

Scoring: 10 words = 5 points Scoring: Succeed in getting at least 3 words correctly (no need to be consecutively correct) = 5 points 2 correct = 3 points 1 correct = 1 point

Station 6: Beware of Crocodiles (15 min) How to play: 1. At start of the game, place the number tiles 1-10 at random on the floor, following a

bridge-like formation to the finishing line.

2. Children will have to step on the numbers in ascending (starting with 1, 2, 3...) order one after another without missing any tiles. For example, when the 1st child’s feet are



on the number 1 tile. the 2nd child’s feet are on number 2, then must quickly step on the number 1 tile. And as the 1st child move to number 3, the 2nd will move to number 2 while the 3rd child will step on number 1.

3. If the group “breaks” the sequence (e.g. child 1 steps on no.3 but child 2 steps on no.1), the group will have to restart (Refer to picture attached below).

Instructions Logistics

Aim of this game is for the group to work together to cross the “bridge” as one. During the game, there must have 2 legs on each square at any point in time, except first and last person when they are moving from one tile to another. The station master - the “crocodile”, will catch the players that steps out of the number tile, skip a number or if there is only 1 leg at a number. The whole group will have to restart each time one person is caught.

Number tiles 4 sets (1-10)

Scoring: 10 points for completing the crossing in correct numerical sequence. 5 points for effort (if they cannot complete to move to the finish line)

Note to leaders: Leaders to rank groups in Rank 1, 2, 3 for the following week’s “Champion Chef”’s competition.

E.g. if the service you serve in have 6 groups, 1st & 2nd group will be in Rank 1. 3rd & 4th to be in Rank 2. 5th & 6th will be in Rank 3. If your service has 10 groups, top 3 groups will be in Rank 1. Next 4 groups are to be in Rank 2, Last 3 groups will be in Rank 3.
