Challenge: To boost sales of Scotts Winterizer fall fertilizer.
Big Idea: Deliver.
This powerful promotion included writing, designing and coordinating a major-scale drop of the Scotts Secrets booklet to homeowners in key markets nationwide, using a Sunday newspaper sleeve and pouch as the carrier.
Results: Retailers reported sell outs of the product, and Scotts manufacturing converted a production line to meet the emergency re-orders, which in turn generated millions of additional revenue.
After a 6-week recall survey conducted by Valassis, the promotion rated the highest of any Sunday sleeve drop in any category for any product.

Challenge: To maximize marketing dollars and build the brand.
Big Idea: Visibility.
The Big Idea was to make the brand more visible at retail in order to create excitement from account buyers and to use creative Point-of-Purchase for in-store and on vending machines to drive sales.
Results: The results were phenomenal. Not only did accounts place orders above capacity at the national convenience and grocery food shows, but convenience store sales increased significantly over a six month period. In response to the staggering numbers, White Castle added more production capacity to meet the welcomed new demand.

Challenge: To help bring awareness to the importance of using genuine parts versus imitation parts.
Big Idea: Trust.
These printed materials and sales kits were used to help the sales force drive home the importance of using genuine Briggs & Stratton parts versus imitation parts. The posters and fl yers gave compelling support copy for the dealers. The center of the campaign was a sales message on a box that contained actual oil and air fi lters cut open to show the difference between the genuine and imitation parts.
Results: It was a very effective and well-received campaign. Participation of dealers in the use andrecommendation of genuine Briggs & Stratton parts rose by an impressive 35%.

Challenge: To create a new distributor website promoting the German machine tool company, Matec, that USA distributors would fi nd compelling and informative.
Big Idea: America First.
After studying the top machine tool industry websites, my BIG IDEA was to focus on America fi rst.
I fi rst developed a site that focused and branded the dis-tributor here in America, followed by the branding of the machine tools themselves, and fi nally by the Matec brand name. Using phrases such as “German Engineering” and marketing-driven selling points relating to fl exibility and profi tability, we communicated that Matec was more than metal; it is a way to get custom applications that will make any shop more profi table.

Challenge: To develop a rich media website that would encourage viewers to register and participate in a national contest online.
Big Idea: Affi nity.
I concepted and executed an exciting web based racing promotion to go with Bryant-Habegger’s NASCAR-oriented contest. Distributors raced to the site and happily submitted their information to enter the contest, which provided the client with more contacts for future marketing efforts.
Results: The contest helped dramatically increase sales with distributors as well as boost esprit de corps amongst active Bryant-Habegger sales teams.
