    concentration.

    Effective time management consists of prioritizing, killingtime-wasters and running a goal oriented life; all of which helpgreatly in reducing fatigue and make you more active duringyour days.

    Effective rather than Efficient: Identifying and doing theright thing (effectiveness) is more important than doing things right(efficiency). Focus first on effective than on efficiency.

    Eliminate the urgent: Urgent things have short-termconsequences. Remove these things from your to to-do list to havemore time for important long-term priorities.

    Intelligent Neglect:Are all these things really important ? Can Iask someones help in this?

    Avoid Perfectionism: Paying unnecessary attention to detail isa form of procrastination.

    Kill procrastination:Try dividing tasks into sub-tasks, tocounter avoidance

    Learn to say No: Otherwise, you are susceptible to give80% of the time to 20% of the unimportant work.

    Be flexible: Interruptions and distractions are part of life.Dont make a very rigid schedule which has no room forunforeseen disturbances.

    Adopt 80/20 rule: 20% of work = 80% of results

    Prioritize: Identify goals for each of your roles, andprioritize separately, otherwise personal life will take a backseat from important university work or vice versa.

    Strategies for Students

    Develop blocks of time: breaks are essential. Try to study in blocks of no morethan 60 minutes.

    Prioritize assignments:Try your hands on the most difficult assignment first.

    Review weekly: Reviewing your goals vs. achievement is a good habit to haveweekly, individually or in a group.

    Alternate study places : Make sure that your study place is free from distractionsto maximize concentration.

    Review reading material just before class; lecture material immediately afterclass: Research shows that our memory retains the most information within 24hours of acquiring it.

    Schedule ahead for critical activities: Exams, presentations etc. should bescheduled as well in advance as possible. Last minute urgency usually leads to apoor quality job as well as no time for review
