Start planning for tomorrow at the end of the day

Start with hard projects and then more to easier ones

Develop a flexible schedule

Make sure everything is done

Plan enough time for studying

Make use of your free time during the school day

Plan study sessions to follow class

Space your study sessions

Set aside time for weekly reviews

Schedule time for recreation and other activities

Procrastination is the conscious or unconscious avoidance of completing tasks by their required due date

Procrastination is often a combination of a variety of factors, including◦ Decreased motivation◦ Avoidance tendencies◦ Lack of confidence◦ Misunderstanding of content◦ Lack of time management

Procrastination◦ Creates more stress

and anxiety◦ Does not allow you

to work at your full potential

◦ Can create time conflicts in your schedule

Prioritization◦ Identifies tasks that

need to be completed first, as opposed to those that can wait

◦ Gives you time to focus on each project individually

◦ Allows you to schedule time for each task

Short term goals take a large task and break it up into several smaller ones

Smaller tasks are less intimidating, and easier to manage

Smaller tasks also allow you to track your progress

If you falling asleep in class If you continually come to class late or skip class all

together If you are satisfied with C and D grades If you wait until the night before assignments are

due to work on them, then often stay up all night completing them

If you drop some of your classes If you feel that you will never find a solution to all

your problems If you feel stressed, sick, and/or exhausted all the

Your friends ask you to go to San Diego California for the weekend. All expenses paid besides food. In a rush to pack you forget your cell phone and laptop charger. You planned on doing some homework while in California but your laptop is dead. You arrive home Sunday night and plug in your cell phone and laptop. You check your text messages, voicemails, emails and calendar for the week.

The following is a list of everything you need to do. Prioritize the following things from 1-17; 1 being the most important and 17 being the least important.

For each category below calculate the number of hours per week you spend doing each activity. For example if you sleep 8 hours a night, multiply 8x7 and write 56 in the space next to “Sleep”.
