Time charter party forms So far as dry cargo is concerned, preference should be given to standard forms such as BALTIME 1939 (revised 2001), GENTIME and NYPE 93. The latter represents a general revision of the “Nype 1946” by the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents (U.S.A.) Inc., (ASBA), New York in co-operation with BIMCO and the Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA). GENTIME is a modern and comprehensive time charter party for dry cargo vessels, although it can also be used for the container trade. Introductory notes to the three charter party forms can be found at www.bimco.org. For oil tankers preference should be given to INTERTANKTIME 80 or, alternatively the BPTIME 3 form which was published in 2001. Introductory notes to the latter can be found at www.bimco.org. Keep in mind that BIMCO has developed a number of time charter forms for special trades: BOXTIME 2004 for purpose-built container vessels, SUPPLYTIME 2005 for off-shore service vessels, GASTIME for carrying liquefied gas, BIMCHEMTIME 2005 for carrying chemicals in bulk, and BARECON 2001 to be used for bareboat chartering of commissioned vessels or newbuilding financed by mortgage. Support these documents by recommending them to Principals and by using them!
