Involved in the setting up of the interest rate derivative operation of UOB, with respect to the medium term interest rate products. Managed a USD1billion swap portfolio. Traded products were interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps and futures.
Was responsible for establishing the fixed income trading operations in UOB. Desk primarily dealt with USD denominated Asian papers including convertibles. Also established the credit derivative desk to supplement the trading operations. Portfolio size was about USD350m. Traded credits spanned from high grade Asian benchmarks to high yielding assets like subordinated debts and Thai corporates.
Involved in the development of the domestic bond and interest rate trading operations in Malaysia and Thailand. Traded products were domestic corporate and government bonds as well as domestic interest rate swaps.
Was one of the primary structurers of the desk. Developed products for clients involving interest rate and credit derivatives. The clientele tend to be regional, with focus on domestic fixed income markets. Products included put/call structures on credits and credit linked notes.
Managed a distressed debt portfolio. The focus was on good turnaround credits in Asia as well as potential onshore-offshore credit arbitrage. Timeframe of investments ranged from 1yr to 5 yrs.
