If tigers top the list of most favored cats, India tops the list of tiger reserves. In fact even till date, India has the maximum population of tigers. With nearly 3000 tigers in 50 tiger reserves, India is home for more than 75% of the world tiger population!

Naturextreme’s directors are serious wildlife photographers having experience and knowledge about all major tiger reserves with a good network of naturalists, drivers, comfortable stays and easy route plans, which ensure the guests comfort and maximum satisfaction of sighting tigers and great images! We, at Naturextreme have many options for tiger marathons and the best is a 15 Nights /16 Days trip covering Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Tadoba and Ranthambore. The prime tiger reserves in Madya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. It is a trip planned keeping in mind of least traveling, fewer flights and maximum safaris.

TIGER! This five-letter word works like a magical spell to get the full attention of any wildlife enthusiast /photographer. We have hardly come across photographers and enthusiasts who are not interested in a trip to tiger reserves. In his own words, one of our veteran wildlife photographer quotes “For me, the impact of seeing a tiger walking head on in front of my vehicle is no less than me winning a Marathon against several best runners”. That’s very much true! Tigers always hold the top position in the list of cats. So much that even a photographer who has seen and clicked 100+ tigers, will show the same excitement that he had shown during his first sighting

There is considerable number of tigers in each tiger reserve. But few of them have very high density making it convenient to sight and get beautiful perspectives in terms of photography. That is where a well-planned Tiger Marathon with a good team leader plays a vital role.It requires a detailed planning and knowledge about the parks and territories to plan a successful tiger marathon. Saying that, it’s important to know about tigers behavior. They are extremely territorial and to such an extent that often we see fights between two tigers. From mother with cubs to mating sequences, there is a whole variety of tiger behaviour that you will witness during the marathon adventure!

Tiger, leopard, Barasingha deer, Spotted deer, Sambhar deer, Gaur (Indian Bison), Civet cat & Fox are some of the species present in this forest! Over 300 species of birds are recorded in this park!

KANHA: The largest tiger reserve in Central India! It is unique as it is the only park in Central India with Barasingha deer! Many times, one finds these deer half immersed in ponds and pulling out tasty treats! The meadow background and Barasingha is a classic frame! Tigers of this park are legendary and this park had the exclusive title of having a tiger with black stripes of the word CAT on its forehead! A dominant tiger in Kanha for a long time and now his glory days are over but none the less legendary! The tall Sal tree on the sides of the roads, long and narrow lanes with golden light piercing through these trees, is a sight to see in Kanha! The wide open grasslands have tens of Spotted deer or Barasingha and it is a sight to see! The terrain will change from Sal trees to grasslands to bamboo forest!

BANDHAVGARH: One of the top tiger destinations in the world for tigers! Many of the international and domestic films on tigers have been shot here and there is a cult following by tiger lovers! People come to see the famous tigers who have their own distinct character to display. This has led to many becoming addicted to seeing these tigers in the wild! There are three main zones and Tala being the most popular zone with its distinct landscape. One can just look at a picture from Tala and know that it is Bandhavgarh as it has many unique landmarks. Bandhavgarh & Bandhani hillocks, Rajbhera, Bhatan, Sidh Baba and Sehara Madaan are some of the many famous landmarks! This area is known for its connection with Indian history. Many small and large landmarks are present for the guests to know about Indian history in and around the park! The park is situated in about 800 sq. kms and has a mix of Sal trees, Bamboo thickets and large wide grasslands! About 350 species of birds are recorded in this area. Other than tiger; leopard, sloth bear, sambar deer, spotted deer, barking deer, gaur (Indian Bison), Nilgai (Blue bull), wild boar and many more species are found here. The main village around Bandhavgarh is Tala village which is about 35 kms from main town, Umaria. Most of the resorts and home stays are located around this village.

It is very rare that when one visits Tadoba, comes back disappointed from not seeing a tiger. The sightings are very promising there.

The park is divided in to different entry gates and zones. The most popular is the Mohurli gate.

TADOBA: In the heart of Central India, is this hidden jewel which has become very famous for awesome tiger sightings. Not too far from Chandrapur, this used to be a very famous park for picnics. With great conservation effort, the park had enhanced protection of wildlife and tigers thrived. The tigers here were habitual to the movement by the villagers so they are not that shy. It is common to see a tiger resting on a tar road inside the jungle or walking head on towards you. The park has lakes and ponds which are ideal for the wildlife to thrive. One gets to see tiger, leopard, sloth bear, wild dog, spotted deer, sambhar deer and many more. It is also rich in bird life and one gets to see quite a few.

RANTHAMBHORE: Ranthambhore is a regal tiger park! From its history as the playground of the Kings & Queens of Rajasthan to a great conservation effort in making it the royal land of tigers with its ancient buildings inundated all over the park and its own fort, this park is like none other for a backdrop with a tiger! The large lakes in this park add the charm to the deciduous forest! For its tigers, the ease they have with its visitors will surprise many! The behaviour and habitat of a tiger is best documented here in different settings! Photographers are mesmerised by the opportunities available!Wildlife and tiger lovers have a loyal following and keep tabs on the lives of these tigers like none other! Many wildlife media channels come here first for making documentaries! Tigers, leopards, Jungle cat, Sambhar deer, Spotted deer, Stripped hyena, Sloth bear, Nilgai (Blue bull) are among a few of the many species one will see here!
