Parent/Teacher Conference Scheduling

April 23, 2015

5:00-8:00 p.m.

Go to: http://lchs.schoolappointments.com

Parents click on the “Register” tab and fill in the registration form to create an account. Once parents have successfully registered, they can login to the system and then must register their students by name.

To Book Appointments

Select Teachers

Parents can schedule appointments for any student that they have added to the system by clicking on the “Appointments” button beside the student’s name. The parent is then taken to a page where they can se-lect the teachers with whom they wish to meet. Multiple teachers can be selected by using the “Ctrl” key on a PC keyboard or the “Command” key on a Macintosh keyboard.

Teacher Appointment Calendars

Parents are shown the calendars of the selected teachers. It also shows them appointment times that are unavailable for booking. Parents can select appointment times by simply clicking the check boxes or by clicking in the time block beside the check box. Once an appointment time has been selected it will change to green. If no appointments are available, click on the call back button at the top of the list.

It is not possible for parents to select more than one appointment at the same time or to select more than one appointment with the same teacher. Javascript enabled browsers are required for validation on the screen.

Appointments Booked Successfully

Once the appointments are booked the screen will display the list of appointments for the student. When the parent clicks on the “Return to Home Page” button, they will return to the home page with their students and their appointments listed. They can book additional appointments, or they can book appointments for another student.

Parents with More Than One Student

If a parent has more than one student at the school, the teacher appointment calendars will have an addi-tional feature displayed when the second (or third, etc.) student bookings are made. If a sibling has an ap-pointment booked, the student’s name will be displayed for a parent, thus making it easier to book adjacent appointments.

Printing Parent Appointment Schedule

Form the home page it is possible for you to generate a PDF document with the list of your appointments. By clicking on the “Print Appointments” button a window will pop-up asking the parent what they wish to do with the document.. In Internet Explorer, it is recommended that people click the “Save” button, save the file and then click “Open” to view the file. IE sometimes has a problem downloading and opening PDF docu-ments that are generated from web sites.

BREAKFAST PROGRAMBREAKFAST PROGRAMBREAKFAST PROGRAMBREAKFAST PROGRAM

“The word literally refers to breaking the fasting period of the prior night” We

all know the importance of eating a healthy breakfast, and we feel the same way

here at LCHS. Therefore, we are implementing a “Free Breakfast Program” for

students, who, for whatever reason, are unable to start their day with this most

important meal. The program is slated to start on Monday, April 20th, 2015. The

program is located in Room 113, and will start each day, Monday through Friday

at 7:30 a.m. and close at approximately at 8:15 to allow teachers to get to their

classrooms. Everyone is welcome; no one will be turned away. The program is

run by teacher and staff volunteers; however, if you would like to help out in

some way, such as volunteering to supervise the program in the mornings, or

perhaps, donate a jar of peanut butter or a few boxes of oatmeal, please contact

any of the following staff:

Mrs. Ingram, Mrs. St. John, Mrs. Hjertaas, Mrs. Hamilton, or Mrs. Staples.

2013-2014 LCHS YEARBOOK

After a terribly long delay, the 2014 edition of the yearbook is now being printed and will soon be bundled up for shipping to LCHS. No firm date is known yet for receiving the yearbooks, but as soon as a date is set, we will be sure to let everyone know.

I want to express my thanks to the extended Tiger family of students, staff, parents, and guardians for their patience in the past several months. Mr. Dennis Cebuliak

On March 6, CJ Cayer, Joshua Meetsma, Brynne Martin, Javairiah Shahid, and Be-licia Macias came in on their day off to participate in the Google Summit for stu-dents. They were able to partake in many sessions including learning how to code, customizing your chrome, learning about apps, looking at how students can become teachers and much more! After spring break, these students will be sharing some tips and tricks when it comes to Google with the rest of the school and how to best use it within their schooling careers.

Provincial Silver Medalists

The senior boys basketball team capped off their 2014-2015 season with a great run at the 3A Provincial Championships in Ft. McMurray on the weekend of Mar. 19-21. Defeating Wetaskiwin and Taber in their first two games, they met SPA from Spruce Grove in the championship game. After the Tigers led at one point in the third quarter 44-43, SPA opened up the game and never looked back. After a brief disappoint-ment, the players realized that the last time a Leduc Comp. team had ac-complished the same feat was 1984. They got beat by a better team that day and reflecting realize that they had a season and a memory to be very proud about. We wish all the grade 12's, and there are ten of them, the best in their future endeavors. Their last time playing together will be on Friday, May 8, at the annual alumni game.

Peru 2015 - Inca Hardcore Adventure

Never have I been so privileged in my life as to accompany a select group of dynamic young men and women as I had travelling through Peru over Spring Break 2015. Our tour was community volunteer service oriented where we participated in six days of community service ranging from reforestation to visiting orphaned girls. Our students experienced the diverse areas of Peru in a whirlwind 12 day tour.

LCHS traveled to the Amazon rainforest to plant Ironwood or Kapok trees which make up the majority of the rainforest canopy where macaws make their homes. These spectacular trees are huge some spanning over 100 feet tall and over 100 years old. In this isolated jungle community accessible only by boat, our students’ braved bugs and heat in order to plant 50 Ironwood trees for reforestation project and build a greenhouse for the immature trees. Students also had an opportunity with AMTUSET, an organization focused on sustainability, to clear and clean an area surrounding a community center where we witnessed leaf cutter ants as well as the carnivorous army ant. During the evening students were able to participate in wondrous nocturnal tours of the rainforest viewing various bugs, tree frogs, bats and the infamous taran-tula as well as the white caiman from the safety of our boat.

After three days in the rainforest we traveled to Cusco where we experienced an alti-tude of 11,000 feet in the magnificent Andes Mountains. As students acclimatized we visited Virgen del Rosario School, a rural school of both young boys and girls. Here we cleaned and painted a small school room for grade 3 students. Dressed in our hard hats and safety glasses our LCHS students quickly learned the ropes of patching and painting. Later that day we received a treat as we were able to visit an Alpaca reserve and cultural center. Students were very excited to feed and photograph the animals. Our next few days were very impactful as we toured the various Inca ruins and worked with the San Judas Chico girl’s orphanage. Day six students used their now expert skills to fill and paint the 21 bed dorm room. The girls were in classes in the morning while we painted. In the afternoon our students were able to wholeheart-edly interact with 21 of the 44 girls aged 3 to 12 years of age. LCHS students brought skipping ropes, a soccer ball, coloring supplies and stickers which were all well re-ceived. Lots of skipping competitions broke out spontaneously. Even Mr. S. showed off his jump rope finesse. At the end of the day the girls refused to let our students leave. It was a sad departure.

As our tour of Peru drew to a close we eagerly anticipated our Good Friday visit to one of the seven modern wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. After several switch back roads we made it early in the day to climb the ancient Inca ruins. The gods were smiling on us as we had a sun shinny visit but the clouds loomed around us and rained later in the day, after we were done our four hour exploration of Machu Picchu.

When we first saw these ruins we were all breathless, some from our amazement, some from the challenging climb. Not everyone can say we have walked in the footsteps of the ancients, but we can. Just as I thought we had the highlight with our tour with Machu Pic-chu, we did more volunteering in a remote community in the Sacred Valley. Our service learning involved the Huran Community of 1000 Quechua people. They did not believe we were coming until our bus pulled in, then word was quickly spread and the community mem-bers came out to see us make adobe mud bricks. This was a laborious task. Mr. S. and I were the first to take our shoes off to mix the mud, clay and straw. The difficult part was moving the mixture over to the brick forms. Our students were troopers. We made over 200 bricks which would take a week to dry then be used to make a fence to keep the chil-dren safe. When we were done, we washed in a nearby stream and left our unwanted shoes and clothing. We also left our boxes of clean water which the women were very ex-cited about as they had never tried bottled water before.

After a total of seven airplanes, two trains, several boat and bus rides, I am happy to say we survived Peru reaping rewards of our experience – a refreshed outlook on life, a focused drive for the future, and many hearts full of compassion.
