ATHLETICS

Tiger Pride

First of all, TIGER PRIDE!

Marana Athletic News

Our Student Athletic Trainers participated in the annual HOSA competition for Marana High School

this weekend with over 100 participants from other high school throughout Arizona. Our

outstanding Tiger Pride Student Athletic Trainers did a great job representing Marana Athletics

with Reilly McGuire taking 1st, Makalya Rascon taking 6th, Morgan O’Connell taking 7th and

Garret Gillespie taking 8th. Great job to those medical assistants who “Run This Bench” for

Marana Athletics! TIGER PRIDE!

Marana Athletics is honored to recognize Cisco Uriarte with a special award called the

MaxPreps and The National Soccer Coaches Association of America Player of the Week. The

award was created to promote high school soccer and highlight the accomplishments of the nearly

800,000 student-athletes participating in soccer annually through-out the nation. In the State of

Arizona, only 8 male players will win this award annually. Cisco Uriarte was selected as the

Player of the Week for the week of December 8, 2014, for the State of Arizona. During that week,

Cisco scored a total of 8 goals in two games won by Marana. Way to go Cisco…TIGER PRIDE!

Several wins this week in Tiger Pride Athletics against some fierce competition who caused us to

struggle last year. In soccer, the Lady Tigers were hungry and brought home the W’s against

Maricopa and Flowing Wells. Our men’s soccer team worked hard against Maricopa but fell short

by a goal in the final minutes of the game. Men’s basketball continues to show improvement and

progress with every game by decreasing point spreads and showing excellent effort. Wrestling

“Tiger Style” fell short against Mountain View yet conquered over Rincon. Ladies Basketball has

continued to work extremely well as a team and gained a few more W’s this week on their journey

to the play-offs and State competition. We encourage you to come out and watch our Tigers

change the Culture, show their Commitment and become more Competitive!

REMINDER: Spring try outs begin February 9th. If your student is planning to try out for baseball,

softball, track, men’s volleyball, or tennis must have all completed paperwork into the Athletics

department by February 6th. Students cannot try out per AIA without completed paperwork in the

school athletic department. If you have any questions, call 616-6475.

Proud to be the AD! TIGER PRIDE! Ms. Montiel Turner
