Those who got elected to the Board are, Jassi Chadha from New Jersey; AI Kapoor, Boston; Harish Mamtani, Atlanta; PK Gulati, Dubai; Lakshmi Narayanan, Chennai; and Sanjeev Ahuja, UK. Our heartiest congratulations to the new Global Team. iE Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter organized a TiE-SAP Summit in Tassociation with SAP Labs, USA. Suraj Sudhi, Lead for Startup Onboarding Engagement for Asia Pacific and Japan region, conducted the sessions with entrepreneurs and students. A large number of entrepreneurs with their IT teams including from IDS Infotech, Smartdata, Grazitti Interactive, Access Infotech, Viprasoft, Kinara Group, Winsome, to name just a few, attended the session. Suraj Sudhi highlighted the advantages of SAP- HANA platform which analyses big data with speed of thought helping organizations make quick decision as well as serve their customers in much more effective way. Since last one year, there are about 1000 new startups worldwide who have adopted the system to develop their applications and even in India it is rapidly being adopted. Approximately 100 startups across the country are already using SAP-HANA for developing solutions for the automobile, healthcare, dairy production, manufacturing, and retail sectors, Suraj Sudhi informed. Earlier addressing the students at the UMIT, informed that volume of data being processed has changed dramatically and according to one study, digital information in India will grow from 40,000 petabytes to 2.3 million petabytes, necessitating the need for Data Scientists in the country who should have statistical and algorithm skills. TiE worldwide has partnered with SAP to help the entrepreneurs learn the fundamentals of working on this new platform HANA, to build applications that are very fast and perform analytics quickly, informed Alok Ramsisaria, Secretary, TiE Chandigarh-Punjab. TiE Chandigarh-Punjab would be organising a comprehensive training programme in February, Alok informed. Mr. S.K. announced the winners of the 2014

On 8th October 2013 TiE Hard team

met at the residence of TiE charter

member Anuj Aggarwal of Altruist

Technologies in Panchkula.

Current industry trends and action

needed to foster entrepreneurship

in the region were discussed.

Those who participated included

Munish Johar, Ravi Bhargav, Shobit

Gupta, Prabhjit Gill, Manu Bhandari,

Sumeer Walia, Ekant Agarwal, and

Sandeep Gandotra.

They work HARD,

they party HARD...

they are TiE HARD.

TiE-Hard team members have

been meeting informally at

each other homes

over dinner to plan

and discuss their

future strategies to

strengthen the

eco-system for

startups.

Besides the mentoring sessions

being conducted by various

members on one-to-one basis

with the new entrepreneurs,

they have been addressing the

students at various educational

institutions too to inculcate the

spirit of entrepreneurship in

them.

TiE Chandigarh members had a sizable and effective presence at the TiECON in Delhi. A special TiE Chandigarh Lounge was created where the startups from Chandigarh had the opportunity to interact with the TiE members from all over the country.

TiE Member Connect

iE Chandigarh Chapter with the inclusion of two new Associate Directors

decided to organise an interface between all members including Charter TMembers, Associate Members and members of the Governing Council of the

Chapter. The event was aptly named, TiE Member Connect which was organised at

Chandigarh Golf Club on 14th December 2013. The agenda of this Member Connect

was to have meaningful interaction with the members, receive ideas and suggestions for

strengthening TIE Chandigarh and adding value for its members.

This event was a grand success and was attended by almost all TiE members with

stalwarts like Bharat Ratna recipient Mr. Chandra Mohan, Mr. Ghai, CEO of

santabanta.com, Mr. B.S. Sawhney, Vice President of Nectar Life Sciences, Dr. A.S.

Marwaha of UIAMS, Panjab University, and Mr. Chadha, Director Placement of Panjab

University, Chandigarh.

Under the inspiration of Mr.MahavirPartap at the annual Retreat in Mussoorie, TiE Chandigarh initiatedthe concept of TiE BBB. Since then we have organised nine successfulBBBs with diverse group of businesspeople, professionals, and experts.

TiE Chandigarh GC Meet TiE Chandigarh had its GC Meet at the UT Guest house under the leadership of President PartapAggarwal, to review the activities and prepared the plans for more engagement with the startups, budding entrepreneurs and other stakeholders in the ecosystem.

Mr. Venkataraman, Vice President of Business Incubation and Acceleration program at the University of Petroleum and Energy studies and Mr. Sumeer Guglani, CEO at The Morpheus addressed young entrepreneurs of the region on how to raise finance. This session was conducted at UT Guest House, Chandigarh and was moderated by Mr. Sumeer Walia, Executive Director, TiE Chandigarh.

(NHS), London. She is also an ORACLE

Ekant Aggarwal is a lawyer by profession with

masters in management, who practised law in

the District Court, and Panjab & Haryana High

Court, before entering the corporate world, as

Head of Legal and HR for a leading chain of

Restaurants.

Design Thinking15 October 2013

Design Thinking: Desirable, Feasible and Viable was the topic of

highly interactive session at Net Solutions by Himanshu Khanna,

Founder Designer at Sparklin, Angad Kingra, former Head of Design

at Zomato, and Nishant Jain, CEO, Design for Use.

After opening remarks by Sameer Jain, CEO of Net Solutions, and

Avinash Raghava, Fellow, iSPIRIT, the trio made lively presentations

and shared case studies how design helped in enhancing user

experience, and added value to the product and the organisation.
