The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge
Weekend FestivalJan. 31-Feb. 2
is Special Olympics Delaware's largest fundraiser.
Individuals and teams, alongside Special Olympics athletes, take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean during the height of winter!Other crowd favorites include the Saturday 5K Run to the Plunge, Pooch Plunge, Chili Contest, Ice Sculpting Demonstration, Polar Ice Cream Throwdown, and other fun family activities.
New Pooch Plunge changes. Following the success of the inaugural Pooch Plunge last year, the event is once again set to take place on Sat. at 11 am during the Plunge Weekend Festival.Unlike last year when pooches were led up to a baby pool with hopes they'd plunge right in, this year dogs are going to be led on a leash by their owners along the shoreline. This allows dogs that want to plunge all the way in to do so, and those that prefer just to frolic in the cold water the ability to do the same. After all, it's not about how far in you go, but rather how good you look doing it.

If you're a fan of the flavors of the traditional BLT sandwich, here's an easy dip recipe you're sure to love. A Favorite BLT Dip recipe incorporates all of the classic ingredients of a BLT sandwich, such as bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo, and puts it all into a deliciously rich and creamy spreadable dip. Gather up: 1 pound bacon • 2 medium tomatoes • 1 c. lettuce • 1 loaf bread • 1 c. mayonnaise • 1 c. sour creamNow ya gotta:Fry the bacon & break apart in little tiny pieces. Cut up lettuce and tomatoes in half and scoop out seeds with a spoon; chop yep, tiny pieces. Now mix 1 c. mayonnaise and 1 c. sour cream in medium size bowl. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving. More mixing: bacon, lettuce and tomato with mayo/sour cream mixture and serve on white toast
