• NEBA’s mission is to enable individuals with disabilities to be fully included in community life, primarily through employment
• NEBA serves individuals with a wide range of skills, abilities, and interests, ages 18 through 64

• Provides an individualized approach to helping beneficiaries start their own business

What Is a Business Plan?
A “bankable” business plan includes:
• A statement of business goals• The plan for reaching the goals• A marketing strategy to promote business• 3-year look at anticipated costs• 3 years of projected net income

What Are the Requirements for NEBA Participation?
To work with NEBA and access their self-employment supports available, you must: • Be eligible for the Ticket program
• Work with a NEBA instructor
• Have a business idea that’s been evaluated and is likely to succeed, according to NEBA’s standards
• Exhibit commitment to NEBA’s program requirements
• Have access to a computer and Microsoft Office

How Many People Has NEBA Served?
Since 2009:
• 492 beneficiaries have participated in the program
• 144 plans have been completed
• Beneficiaries served in 40 states and Puerto Rico
• 28 former beneficiaries no longer receive Social Security benefits

Be cautiousNot all work from home opportunities are legitimate. Look for red flags as some work from home opportunities may be too good to be true. Some red flags may include:• Charging fees• Being in business for a short amount of time
Understand your taxesSome opportunities may not withhold taxes like traditional employment:• W2 – Taxes withheld• 1099 – Taxes not withheld and your responsibility to pay taxes
