It does make the dismissal process move more smoothly. I hope that you will be able to join us for Parent Night on Thursday, September 17. We will begin with “Homeroom” at 7:00pm. Your daughters will complete a schedule next week for you to follow, which will provide you with an opportunity to meet her teachers. Please contact the main office if you have any questions regarding this event. As noted on our calendar, we will have our first late arrival of the year on Tuesday, September 8. Early Birds begin at 8:50, and Homeroom will begin at 9:20. Students will be following Activity Schedule 1 on Tuesday as well as the other Tuesdays we have late arrival for our faculty meetings. Freshman Guidance this quarter will focus on helping freshmen with orientation to high school and strategies for success. Sophomore Guidance this quarter will focus on transitioning into sophomore year by helping students set academic and extracurricular goals. Classes will also focus on test preparation and identification of strengths and interests. Junior/Senior Counselors will be working with the following students this year: Michelle Byrd: Abdel-Aziz, Summer - Duma, Jennifer Seniors Abele, Claire - Folan, Gabrielle Juniors Liz Vorholt: Ellis, Caroline - Lucas, Kirsten Seniors Foster, Elizabeth - Kofron, Anna Juniors Vicki Zaya: Maloney, Elizabeth - Schmitt, Lily Seniors Kunkel, Mary - Reeves, Destiny Juniors Kristin Tiffany: Schrieber, Sarah - Yeager, Logan Seniors Rege, Rashmi - Williams, Natalie Juniors Each junior and senior will work with her counselor for all academic, personal and college counseling needs. The counselor assignments are to provide continuity and support beginning in the junior year and continuing through the important senior year. All juniors will complete College Planning, a requirement for graduation and an important component of the college search and application process. Jenny Foertsch is our Administrative Assistant. Her office is located in the guidance area at the top of the stairs in the Schott Building. Susan Kellison is Administrative Assistant for Auxiliary Services. School Psychologists Kim Jewett and Alexis Nordrum will be available to students in all grades for individual counseling, group counseling and crisis intervention. They are also available to teachers and parents for consultation regarding any social, emotional or learning concerns they may have about their student(s). Ms. Jewett will be in the building Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; Mrs. Nordrum will be in Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our Academic Language Consultant is Patt Zurlinden, and is available to all students to work individually or in small groups to provide curriculum-based interventions. The Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) will be administered here on Wednesday, October 14. All sophomores and juniors will be participating. Both students and parents are invited to talk with the many College Admissions Counselors visiting Ursuline Academy this fall. The dates and times of college visits will be listed on a link on the homepage of our website. This involves dispensing library materials for students as well as helping prepare materials for use and a variety of other jobs. The morning shift for volunteers is from 9am until noon. What  is  the  Ultimate  Auction?The  Ultimate   Auction  is   the   largest   annual   fundraising  event   for  Ursuline  Academy.    This   evening  of  goodwill  celebrates  the  spirit  of  the  Ursuline  Community.    The  proceeds  support   student  scholarships,   tuition  assistance,  educational   programs,   and  overall   academic   excellence   that   beneUit   every   student.     This   year  marks   the  33rd  Annual   Ursuline  Auction  and   the   theme,   “Ultimately   Art,   Celebrating   the  Creative  Spirit”,  will   surely  provide  a  festive  backdrop  to  an  elegant  evening   of  dining,   live  and  silent   auctions,   performances   and  fellowship.     It   is   a  tradition  that  is  made  possible  by  the  generous  donations  of  parents,  alums,  friends  and  the  business  community.
