PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Merry Christmas To you and yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday. Spend some happy time with your family and talk. It’s always a busy time in December, so the holidays are an important opportunity for sharing. Thank you to all our families who so generously support us in developing a positive education for our students. Our final assembly will be at 1pm tomorrow, Friday 22nd. Junior Rotary Jemima and Jett presented last week at the Rotary committee meeting after their successful completion of their Junior Rotary program. They were articulate and did an outstanding job of representing our school and its great program. Well done. Art Walkthrough and Christmas Celebration Congratulations to both Gin de Benedetti and Louise Strauch for the art walkthrough and the Christmas celebration. The art pieces were beautiful. All were a standout and the carols certainly brightened the evening. It’s a lovely warm up to the festive events. Autobahn Project Gin has worked with a year 5/6 group to complete an indigenous pole that is now on display at the front of the school. Congratulations to the team on their collaboration and follow through. Great work Gin and the team.

Graduation We celebrated seven years of schooling for our year 6 students on Tuesday evening. It is a lovely transition time seeing these young people move on in their lives, particularly knowing they are well prepared for the future. Well done to all parents and families and we wish you well in whatever the future holds. Thank you to our senior school team for their preparation and hard work for the night. A very special thank you must go to the parent and ES team for all their efforts.
School Captains 2018: We had many quality applications for Captaincy roles for next year. Congratulations to the following students who were successful in being voted leadership roles by their peers in 2018. School Captains: Douglas S and Aria W-D Vice Captains: Jack P and Jade R Green House Captains: Luke A and Macy A Red House Captains: Riley M and Madi M Gold House Captains: Scarlett H and Carly S Blue House Captains: James P and Jasmine B Mrs Wilson Jill Wilson is retiring after many years of supporting our students, staff and families at Ferntree Gully North. Jill has done an amazing job and should be very proud of her efforts and her service to the school. Everyone comes to school each day to do their very best and this certainly has been the case for Jill. The difference she has made to so many students is testament to her fine character and dedication. Working though, is only one part of our lives, and we hope Jill can enjoy the next part of her life as that develops. We know you join us in wishing her well for the future. Call in and see her or speak to her after assembly tomorrow. Swimming
The swimming program was a big success. Swimming is a vital life skill and we know the program will help keep our students safe. Thank you to Lara Atkinson and staff for their dedication to the program. Well done to all students.
Allergies Plan Students who have allergies will need to have an Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy Plan (ASCIA) kept at school. These plans outline an action plan if a child does suffer from an allergic reaction. The plans are available on line at www.allergy.org.au or you can pick one up at the office for 2018. The student’s forms need to be updated annually. Medical Plans The Department of Education and Training has also developed a student health management plan. If you child has a significant medical condition the plan needs to be completed by the parent and school upon medical advice and support. If your child has a significant condition please contact the office so that we can have all the relevant information on hand to support your child. .cont/3
