Please Join The Donges Bay PTO!

We want to remind families that have not joined the PTO that it is not too late! Remember, a PTO membership is only $16. Joining the PTO in no way binds you to any volunteer hours or would require you to attend meetings (join us when you can). What your membership does do is fund important academic enrichment programs (such as field trips) and provides teacher support as well as family support activities. Some PTO committees include community service, art enrichment, staff appreciation, landscaping, vision/health screenings, family fun nights and many, many more. In addition, a school directory is included with your PTO membership (a $10 value)! If you haven’t done so already, please consider joining the PTO.

Attention all 4th – 8th Grade Boys Join us for

MTBA Basketball Tryouts

When? • Sunday, October 3 and Sunday, October 10

Time & Location?

• 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm in the Homestead High School Fieldhouse What is MTBA?

• The Mequon Thiensville Basketball Association (MTBA) was formed nine years ago to provide Mequon-Thiensville 4th through 8th grade boys with the opportunity to play in a more competitive basketball environment than what is offered through the recreation department and middle school programs. The MTBA is a feeder program for the Homestead boys basketball teams.

What kind of Commitment is involved?

• Teams will play in a league consisting of other school district based teams and in approximately seven tournaments selected by the teams’ coaches during the winter. League games and tournaments are on weekends primarily in locations bounded by Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay. Most games and tournaments tend to be within one hour or less of Mequon-Thiensville. Practices are two nights per week during the season and also will occur on Sunday afternoons in November. All practices are held at Mequon-Thiensville schools.

Who will be the coach?

• Teams have been traditionally coached by parents of the boys. We are looking for parents to coach (head or assistant). The HHS boys’ basketball coaches will help by assisting in running early season practices and will teach the basics of their offense and defense. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Mike Lappin at the number or e-mail below.

We hope that you will tryout for an MTBA team. Please plan to arrive by 3:45 p.m. in order to register. In addition, a parents’ informational meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes outside the HHS field house on Sunday, October 10. Please feel free to call or e-mail Mike with any questions to 262-643-4432, [email protected]. Sincerely, Marquis Hines Mike Lappin HHS Boys Varsity Head Coach MTBA President

4-H is a year round, educational youth and family program. Have fun, make

friends, and experience new adventures!!!!

4-H is for all youth. We are part of a national organization with 6.5 million members. Youth in

grades 3-13 enroll as regular 4-H members participating in local, state, national, and international

activities. We welcome Kindergarten through 2nd graders as Cloverbud members, a group de-

signed just for them. With twelve clubs throughout Ozaukee County, there is sure to be a club and

activities just right for your family.

4-H is for City Kids as well as those on farms, in villages and places in between. Many people

think only farm families can join 4-H. That just isn’t true. In fact, only 20% of Ozaukee 4-H families

live on farms.

4-H is for families. In Ozaukee County, there are numerous community clubs located from the

north to the south end of the county. Local clubs meet monthly, with members and their families do-

ing things together as part of a successful 4-H learning experience.

4-H provides a well-rounded experience for kids. By working on projects of their choosing and

learning through meeting attendance and participation, the members acquire valuable life skills. All

this while making new friends and having fun!

Following is a partial list of 4-H projects that members may choose from. Please call

(262) 238-8288 for more information, or come to our open house on October 5, 2010
