Storms

• A storm is a violent disturbance in the atmosphere.

Thunderstorms

• A lightning bolt will heat up to about 30,000 C. The heated air expands to an explosion creating thunder.

Lightning

• Lightning occurs when electricity hops from cloud to cloud or cloud to ground.

Tornadoes

• They mostly occur during a thunderstorms.

• They’re whirling, funnel-shaped cloud that touches the ground.

Hurricanes

• It starts as a tropical storm then grows in size and strength spiraling inward to low pressure areas.

• The eye of a storm is calm where the sun can show through.

Winter storms

• Air from Canada goes southeast over the Great Lakes then dropping temp. causing lake-effect snow.

• Keep your self warm and cover exposed body parts.
