This is the overall intention and direction of an organization with regard to quality as expressed by top management.

Processes in other knowledge areas may produce outputs that should be considered as part of quality planning.

This involves comparing actual or planned project practices to those of other projects to generate ideas for improvement and to provide standards by which to measure performance.
Quality Standards
These are application area specific standards or regulations that may affect the project.
ISO 9000 series standards give useful information on Quality Planning.

Quality Management Plan
This should describe how the project management team will implement the Quality Policy. In ISO 9000 terminology it should describe the project quality system encompassing procedures, processes and resources needed to implement quality management.
Checklists
A checklist is a structured tool used to verify that a set of required steps has been performed.

This includes taking action to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the project to provide added benefits to the project stakeholders.
