Tiring journey

In June, just after my 12th birthday, I went to Great Britain for the second time. I went with my mother and her grammar school class for a ten-day stay in London.

The bus journey was tiring. It took, if I remember well, two nights because we had a long pause for sightseeing in Brussels and other Belgian cities. I was looking forward to the La Manche ferry. The journey from French Calais to Dover took about two hours and then the bus continued going towards London.

Ghostly familyOn the same day we were brought into our new host families. We were living with my mum at an old married couple's. I didn't talk to them at all, I was a little scared of them. Their house looked ghostly. It was a three-floor ivy house. Its stairs were creaking and I was scared to death after looking at their daughter Dejava's photo. Sleeping in our bus I had even a dream of her.

Stonehenge

One of our trip led to Stonehenge - the secret place that attracts visitors from all over the word. Our group was attracted by the place, too. The clump of famous stones is actually bigger than it looks in the picture. You can't forget the touch of history.

WindsorWe set off on a one-day trip to Windsor, the summer seat of the Queen Elisabeth. Guards in uniforms and with stony faces stood at the front door. There were arranged gardens with small lakes inside. Paintings with the portraits of the royal family hang in the chambers.

LondonThen we got familiar with London. A double-decker (a two-story bus) took us to the historical part of the city. We could see really a lot. Majestic St. Paul's Cathedral, White Tower, lifting Tower Bridge, 10 Downing Street - the residence of prime ministers.

We went on seeing a gothic abbey - Westminster Abbey, the famous tower clock - Big Ben and the seat of royal family - Buckingham Palace. We were lucky, the changing of the guard - great show for tourists - just began.

We took a walk in Hyde Park and took pictures of snuggling squirrels.

We also fed pigeons in Trafalgar Square and climbed on the statue of the lion next to Nelson's Column standing in the middle of the square.

LondonWe got tickets to the famous museum of waxworks Madame Tussaud´s through standing for hours. I especially liked the part of horror.

I also tried to put my legs on two hemispheres. It was in Greenwich.

We walked in the square Piccadilly Circus and could see the known statue of Eros and we bought some souvenirs in the local shops.

I would certainly recommend everyone to go to see London. This city is living, rich in sights and in unforgettable experiences.
