Article abstract

Examining the main lines of research in urban sociology, the author concludes that ithas neither specific theoretical preoccupations nor a concrete, specificallycircumscribed subject matter. There still remains, however, the réintégration in theanalysis, under a new perspective, of certain key problems dealt with in the traditionof urban sociology, mainly those of space organization and those which deal with thesocial patterns of collective consumption.
