Happy Anniversary!! The Thompson Center on Lourdes is celebra"ng our FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY and Senior Center Month! It is "me to celebrate this milestone by having the First Annual TCoL Appeal. The dollars will be matched up to $25,000 by a grant from the Bright Idea Fund within the Community Founda!on for the Fox Valley Region grant programs.

We are so thankful to have generous donors to support the mission of TCoL and ensure that everyone can celebrate life through educa"onal, wellness and social ac"vi"es. Our numbers con"nue to grow with over 3,000 par"cipants.

TCoL is “Building Momentum”. In 2020, even with the pandemic and temporary clo-sures we experienced almost 9,000 visits. We are just halfway through the year and have already exceeded 9,000 visits!

We are so grateful for the $25,000 Matching Grant from the Bright Idea Fund within the Community Founda!on. With your help we can raise another $25,000 to grow our pro-gramming to further the Thompson Center on Lourdes mission.

Please join TCoL in celebra"ng life for years to come by dona"ng to the Annual TCoL Appeal and watch your impact be doubled!

“The more you celebrate life, the more there is in life to celebrate. Anonymous” Sincerely,

Liz Neuman Executive Director Thompson Center on Lourdes (TCoL) - Celebrating Life After 50

Volunteer Spotlight

22 | The Thompson Center on Lourdes

Kevin Coleman was born in Green Bay, and after graduation from Kaukauna High School, started working in the construction industry in carpentry rough framing homes and learned the trade in an apprentice program. He was a member of Carpenters Local 955 for 47 years, retiring ten years ago. During his career, he has worked on major projects for Oscar Boldt Construction Company at the area paper mills and hospitals. Because of the high standards and continuous training provided, he is very proud of his affiliation with the union.

Kevin was introduced to TCoL through his neighbor, Ray Zuelke. He has completed numerous projects at the Center with other retired Union volunteers including renovating the TCoL staff offices, offices for Options for Independent Living, and widening the doorway in the reception area. In addition, he also volunteers as VP of Quad Communities Crime Stoppers which is a liaison with police departments in Kimberly, Kaukauna, Little Chute and Combined Locks. It provides cash rewards for information leading to arrests.

In his (spare) time, Kevin and his wife, Barbara, have enjoyed traveling including many trips to Europe. Barb is very active at TCoL and enjoys the painting group. They have a daughter living in Vermont and three grandchildren.

Kevin gets a great deal of satisfaction seeing projects rough to finish and has volunteered at the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton spending 435 hours building a 4 piece reception desk. Friends and neighbors have benefited from his generosity when he has completed many remodel-ing projects for them. Thank you Kevin for your humor, enthusiasm and dedication to helping so many with your skills and craftsmanship.
