Family Halloween Eventsin Stroudsburg Jacob Stroud Corporation (JSC) presents a full day of frightful Halloween-
themed fun on Saturday, October 29! Downtown Stroudsburg businesses will host
Trick-or-Treat from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Stroll the picturesque downtown area, visit
participating businesses with Trick-or-Treat signs out front, and receive a variety of safe
treats sure to satisfy even the scariest sweet tooth!
Children and parents, gather for a Halloween Parade at 12:30pm in front of the
YMCA at 809 Main Street. The procession steps off promptly at 1:00pm, traveling down
Main Street sidewalks, crossing over Main, and returning to the YMCA. Complete your
day with a family Halloween Party at the YMCA from
2:00pm to 5:00pm. Enjoy a costume contest for all
ages, pumpkin painting, carnival games, face painting,
and prizes; cost is $5.00/child, adults enter free.
The JSC is dedicated to improving the image of
downtown Stroudsburg through enhancing its physical
appearance, building consensus among organizations
and the community, promoting its unique
characteristics, and restructuring and diversifying
its economic base. Get acquainted with this vibrant
organization at 6:00pm on Tuesday, November 15 in
the Driebe Freight Station, 537 Ann Street, during the

Steam Train Excursions
Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton announces
a Fall Foliage Steam Train Excursion to Moscow on Saturday,
October 29 at 11:00am. The round-trip excursion rolls
past historic buildings, through a tunnel, along a mountain
stream, past reservoirs, and amidst woodlands. Purchase light
refreshments at the restored 1904 train station in Moscow;
see the steam train arrive around 11:30am. The train returns in Scranton around 1:00pm.
On Sunday, October 30, take a round-trip Fall Foliage Steam Train Excursion to Tobyhanna, departing Steamtown
in Scranton at 11:00am and returning at 3:00pm. See the steam train arrive at the restored 1908 passenger-freight
Tobyhanna Train Station on Route 423 at 11:45am, and
meet the Stationmaster; (570) 894-3338. Refreshments may
be purchased.
Hear the bell and whistle, smell the steam and oil,
feel the ground vibrate beneath your feet, and see the 1-
ton drive rods turn the wheels. Hear the chuff-chuff-chuff
of the smokestack; relive the era of steam, as the engines,
people, and stories of railroading come to life! To fi nd

Pocono Outdoor Club Hikes On Saturday, October 29, join members of the Pocono Outdoor Club for a Tumbling Waters Hike at the Pocono
Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area near Dingmans Ferry.
This moderate, 3.5-mile hike to 2 impressive waterfalls and overlooks of the Delaware River includes a 350’ climb
up from the waterfall. Meet at 10:00am at the PEEC parking lot off Brisco Mountain Road, near mile marker 8 on
Route 209.
You’re invited to Hike the McDade Trail in the Delaware Water Gap National
Recreation Area on Saturday, November 12. Meet at 10:00am at the Hialeah parking
area to hike to Turn Farm and back, about 9 miles total. Travel on River Road through
Shawnee, to the Hialeah picnic area on the right. Drive through and park at the far end
near the trail head; bring lunch and water.

Bog Walks and Halloween Night HikesBog Walks and Halloween Night Hikes The Monroe County Conservation District Environmental Education Center
(MCEEC) hosts Tannersville Bog Walks on Wednesdays, November 2 and 9. The
2½-hour walks traverse a 1650’ boardwalk through this unique northern boreal bog
owned by The Nature Conservancy, and are led by a Monroe County Environmental
Educator. Meet at MCEEC by 1:00pm for a brief presentation, then caravan to the
bog. Cost is $5.00/non-members, $3.00/MCEEC or Nature Conservancy members
and children under 12.
On Saturday, October 29, join a Halloween Night Hike at the MCEEC Kettle
Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Bartonsville. A brush with an owl, the life of worms, how
bats navigate, swamp creatures, and the legend of why we carve pumpkins into jack-o-
lanterns await those who dare to enjoy this entertaining educational experience! The
1-hour hikes begin at 6:30pm and leave every 15 minutes; the last hike leaves the building at 8:30pm. Cost is $8.00/non-

Cemetery Tour at Grey Towers NHS A walking tour of Laurel Hill Cemetery, on the grounds of Grey Towers
National Historic Site in Milford, is planned for Sunday, October 30 at 1:30pm.
Meet in the Visitor Pavilion in the parking lot and wear comfortable shoes for the
short hike to the cemetery. The cemetery tour, sponsored by the Grey Towers
Heritage Association, Pike County Historical Society, and the US Forest Service,
costs $5.00/person; registration is recommended and limited to 40 participants.
Laurel Hill Cemetery served as the original town graveyard until the Milford
Cemetery on Route 209 was established. Lori Strelecki of the Pike County Historical
Society will discuss some of the cemetery’s well-known inhabitants, including
members of the Pinchot family. A Forest Service representative will speak about
cemetery rehabilitation projects and volunteer recruitment.
Grey Towers is the former home of conservationist and 2-term Pennsylvania
Governor, Gifford Pinchot. The US Forest Service, founded by Pinchot, is now
its steward, offering programs, tours, and a conference center. From Route 6

Pocono Mountains Flying Club
The purpose of this non-profi t club is to encourage all types of fl ying, training, education and
camaraderie. The Pocono Mountains Flying Club provides unique membership opportunities that
include the use of a Cessna 150 airplane at $50 per hour, wet. Additionally, FAA approved fl ight
instructors (CFI) will be available to all members for an additional fee of $30 per hour.
There are now two options for anyone wishing to become a member of the club.
A 90 day membership is available for a ‘buy in’ of $500.00 which allows for 10 hours of plane
rent at $50/hr wet to be used within 90 days. (This $50/hr charge is not part of the $500.00 ‘buy
in’.) There are no monthly dues for this membership. By the conclusion of the 90 day period the
membership may be converted to a full membership for a refundable $1700.00. This membership
may not be resold and voting rights are precluded in this membership.
Full membership requires a refundable $2200.00 ‘buy-in’ and dues of $50 per month.
The membership may be resold with the club’s permission.
