audience included Carolyn Rice, Kirk Tyson, Dan Berry, Lorna Dawes and Dan Dittman. Mark Ruetschle offered a Day $100 for his brother’s recuperation. It is possible that a broken neck will leave Steve, an international pastor, paralyzed. We extend our most sincere prayers to Mark, Steve and their families. Carolyn Rice offered a Day 75 for her birthday, and noted that it does NOT represent her age! Lorna Dawes put up a Day 100 for her 75th birthday. Bob Siebenthaler’s return to the club was recognized by Blitz Creager with a Day 25. And a Day 10 was given by Chuck Vella for the transition of his company plus another 10 to promote this week-end’s City Folk Festival. Dan Dittman celebrated his birthday with a Day 100. Steve Prevost “busted” our very own Dave Williams at the Dragons Game on Father’s Day where Dave was found partaking of a few spirits and leading his family in song during the game. Ann Charles Watts announced that she is recruiting host families for incoming Russian exchange student Anatasia. She will be attending Stivers School for the Arts, and the host families must reside in Dayton City school District. You don’t have to be a Rotarian to host. You can still sign up to attend the July 18th Ro-tary afternoon with our First Place Cincinnati Reds. Flyers were on the table. And today is your last chance to sign up to attend the Year End Rotary Gala Tuesday night, June 29, where you can hear the Not-Ready-to-do-Time Players. Come on out and roast – I mean celebrate – President Kathleen’s year. On that note, Dave turned the podium over to Kathleen for the final time. Kathleen asked Steve Rubenstein to introduce our newest member, Bryan Chodkowski. Bryan is an Ohio University graduate serving the City of Riverside as their City Manager. Frank Scott presented Paul Harris awards to Kathleen Carlson (her third), Steve Naas (his first) and Steve Prevost (his second). Con-gratulations! After that, Tom Maher came up to improve the on-line bidding of the personal auction. But not before Tom acknowledged being “dissed on” by our Dayton Mayor last week for not wearing his earrings from last year’s auction. Tom proudly displayed his jewelry! Auction proceeds will be donated to Stivers School for the Arts for their Veteran’s History Project. Bowling with the Ladies raised $600 last week. Fresh water fishing with Tom was bid up to $290. Indonesian dinner for 8 at Berkel’s sold for $40/chair to Tom Lasley, plus Rita Cyr offered to match the bid if Hans will do two din-ners. Lunch with Dan Curran raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $90/seat x 10 seats. The suc-cessful bidder of the Barrel tasting at Woodburn Win-ery with Brady Kress was Kathleen Carlson. All in all, almost $3400 was raised! Great job! Continued on Page 4

This Happened Last Monday Continued President Kathleen returned to the podium to make some final comments about her year, thanking all members for their support and stating she was proud to have had the privilege of serving the Dayton Rotary club. Her goal was to build value in your membership, and, Kathleen, you reached your goal! Thank you for the great programs, speakers, information on our region, and political updates you made possible during your year.

All the officers, directors and chairs were recognized by President Kathleen for their outstanding assistance with a mosaic from the K-12 Art Gallery (Thank you to Jerri Stanard of K12 Gallery). Ultimately, Kathleen invited in-coming president Paul Miller to the podium to receive his President’s pin. Paul awarded Kathleen her past president pin and certificate, as well as a beautiful framed print of the

Dayton skyline from the “Light the Night” competition. Kathleen was sent off with a standing ovation from the club. Paul claimed the Dayton Rotary club is not so scary after all! Growth and Giving will come naturally from his goal of a Great Club. He’s excited about his

incoming board and the new generation of members, and encouraged participation in as many social events as possi-ble. No meeting next week – enjoy your 4th of July! Next meeting is July 12 when Shane Imwalle will present a panel to discuss Ohio’s 3C +D passenger rail initiative. Paul ad-journed his first meeting of the year at 1:00.
