Next Council Meeting: June 13, 2013. Council meetings are now being held on every second Thursday of
the month, unless changed by council.
CONTROLLED BURNS:
With the warm weather approaching more people are planning control burns. Please ensure you
notify the office @ 306-253-4312 of ALL control burns within the RM. If a passing motorist phones in to
report a fire that you have not registered with the Municipality, we will be forced to fine you $500. It only
takes a moment to make the call. After hours and weekends please contact the deputy fire chief; Adrien
Hamoline @ 306-230-1603. DO NOT plan any controlled burns when the wind is blowing towards a
surrounding farm yard!!!
FIRE FIGHTING CHARGES: The RM of Aberdeen charges $500 for ALL fire calls that have our Fire Fighters leave the fire hall. As you
are aware grass fires can travel at rapid rates, and risk to land and property can be catastrophic in a short
period of time. If our fire department deems it necessary to call in adjacent fire fighters from neighboring
municipalities ALL costs and charges will be forwarded to the person responsible for starting the fire. This
can add up to thousands of dollars in a very short period of time. PLEASE contact your insurance provider to
ensure you have ample firefighting coverage to protect yourself in case of fires.
CUSTOM GRAVEL:
Due to the wet road conditions and the crew’s already large workload, there will be no custom gravel hauled
or sold in 2013.
BUILDING & DEVELOPMENT OPEN PERMITS: The RM of Aberdeen would like to remind all of you that have OPEN outstanding permits that permits are
valid for 12 months from date of issue. To avoid an order being placed on your property, please ensure all
deficiencies have been corrected, and final inspections conducted. If an extension is required, please submit
your request in writing along with your signature and the itemization of the work still required to be
completed to the RM office.
PEST CONTROL: contact Don Amberson: ph (306) 253-4271 with questions or concerns
Creating a rat-free province involves a TEAM EFFORT. The Pest Control Act clearly identifies that the
responsibility for controlling & destroying pests resides with EVERY person who owns, occupies, or
controls land & buildings. That Includes ALL OF US!!
If you see any signs or suspect you may have a rat infestation, please contact Don Amberson immediately.

ANIMALS ON THE LOOSE: As a result of several recent complaints and inquiries made to the Municipal office, The Rural Municipality of
Aberdeen No. 373 would like to remind all ratepayers that NO ANIMALS shall run at large in the
municipality.
As per Bylaw 9901, an animal shall be deemed to be running at large when it is beyond the boundaries of the

by being:
(a) in direct or continuous charge of a person competent to control it; or
(b) securely confined within an enclosure; or
(c) securely fastened so that it cannot roam at will.
An animal found at large contrary to the provisions of this Bylaw shall be liable to be seized and impounded
by an enforcement officer as appointed by resolution of council. Furthermore, any animal seized and
impounded may be disposed of or destroyed by the enforcement officer without the necessity of any notice to
the owner or any person in possession thereof. Any costs involved in the seizing, impounding, destruction or
other charges paid to enforcement officer shall be charged back to the owner of the stray animal seized and
impounded.
In an effort to avoid fines, and possible destruction of animals, The Rural Municipality of Aberdeen No. 373
requests that if you own an animal you ensure your animal does not run at large. Please contact the Municipal
office if you wish to see Bylaw 9901 in its entirety.
