INSIDE THIS ISSUE LPC Life Groups will be unique in the following ways:

• The focus will be on becoming a mature disciple of Jesus in rela-tionships with others in the group

• Life Groups are geared toward members or attenders of LPC. We want to use this ministry to be part of the “glue” holding us together as a church and helping to assimilate people in the life of LPC

• Life Groups will meet monthly. We know many of you are in-volved in Bible studies outside of the church, Sunday School, and internal Bible studies and we know these are important to you; therefore, meeting monthly enables you to continue with the ministries for which you are al-ready involved

• Life Groups are the initiative of your pastor and the Session. The leadership of your church stands behind this new ministry and will be central to leadership.

A typical Life Group meeting will involve praying for one another, sharing how our walk with Christ is going, studying God’s Word and finally, working together to be Christ’s ambassadors in the world.

Sign-up begins now. There is a sign up sheet in bulletin and also in the Welcome Center. Please fill out the back of the flyer and place it in the basket in the Welcome Center.

You can call or email the office if you would like to participate or if you have questions.

I am looking forward to how God is going to use this new ministry. May the Lord bless you.

Pastor Greg

Dear Friends in Christ,

I am excited about all of the things that are happening this Fall. I am looking forward to the start of Sunday School, the beginning of new Bible studies and the beginning of the church year after many programs have taken some summer breaks; but what I am particularly encouraged about is the start of “Life Groups”. I have mentioned Life groups a number of times already and I want to mention them again as we begin signups and start having our first meetings this Fall.

Life Groups will be small groups of people who are members or attend Lewes Presbyterian Church. The purpose of Life Groups is discipleship - this means learning to grown in our faith and becoming more like Christ. We are doing small groups because that is what Christ did. Even though he taught as many as 5,000 people, most of his teaching and training took place with 12 men among whom he invested heavily in 2-3. Small groups are best for asking questions, having conversations and encouraging one another in Christ; plus we get to know one another on a deeper level and can put into practice the things we are learning.

OUR NEW COVENANT PARTNER

Welcome David Kohn! David grew up in Washington, DC and moved to Lewes when his parents retired here in 1977. His sister lives in Gaithersburg, MD and visits often. David had his own masonry and bricklaying business until 2017 and is now a substitute custodian for the Cape Henlopen School District. David learned about LPC while he was in the hospital recovering from knee surgery. He was visited by Dawn and Matt Hurd, whom he knew from work. Rev. Gilmore visited David and from those visits he learned about Jesus and what it meant to be a Christian. In March, 2019, David was accepted as a member by his statement of faith and was baptized at the 9AM service. David enjoys gardening and doing handyman projects and spending time on the beach. David’s enthusiasm for learning about Christ has been through talking with Pastor Greg. Welcome David to LPC!!!

Construction has been completed and the class-rooms are ready for use when the new school year begins in early September. The

students and teachers of the Lewes School and the members of

Many thanks to Patty Jo Mock for planning such a wonderful trip to Sight & Sound Theater. It was a blessing to have a bus that could accommodate mom’s scooter. I know this took a lot of work to organize such an event.

In regards to my Eagle Project, the paperwork is now being reviewed on the national level and I am waiting for a response. I would appreciate prayers during this process and I will have a Board of Review once every-thing is approved. The compliments and support were greatly appreciated and the teamwork between the mem-bers of the Church, Session, family and Boy Scouts was amazing.

Thank you again for everything. We can’t wait for the Court of Honor to celebrate. In Christ, Jacob Irwin
