This is where you use Flash to create your own Pizzalicious

advert. Follow the instructions below to create a basic advert –

however, you’ll need to change this to fit your own design!

1. Load Flash

2. Under ‘Create New’ click on ‘Flash document’ – a blank

screen should appear:

Page 2: This is where you use Flash to create your own ...northwoodcomputing.weebly.com › uploads › 2 › 1 › 6 › 6 › ... · create a Motion Tween to make Flash animate from the

3. Look at the Properties panel at the bottom of the screen.

Click on the ‘Size’ button:

4. Change the ‘Dimensions’ to 710px wide and 110px high.

If you wish to, change the background colour too:

5. Start a new Word document and add the title ‘Explanation

for AO3’. Take a screenshot of the blank Flash screen and

explain what you’ve done (e.g. “This is the start of my

Flash advert and I’ve changed the size to 710 by 110

pixels”.)

6. Look at the timeline near the top of your screen. Hover

over frame 21 and right-click. Select ‘Insert Keyframe’.

7. Go back to frame 1. Using the text tool draw a large box

and type “Are you hungry?”. Select a font and font size

that looks appropriate using the options at the bottom of

the screen.

HINT: You can change the text to anything that you want –

this is just an example.

8. Take a screenshot and paste it into your Word document.

Write a sentence to explain what you’ve done.

9. Now go to frame 21 – click on it and

you should see your text disappear.

Click on Frame 41, right-click and

select ‘Insert Keyframe’.

10. Repeat step 5 to add some additional text in – perhaps

this time it could say “Can’t be bothered to cook?”. To

improve your work further you could find some images

that link with your text and paste them in too.

11. Take another screenshot and explain what you’ve done –

if you’ve added images, explain how and why you did.

12. Move to frame 41 and repeat what you’ve just done (you

need to add a new keyframe on frame 61 and then go

back and add text frame 41).

Click on frame 21 and then

To insert an image, save the image as a JPEG into your Unit 20AO3 folder. Then go to File and Import. Click on Import to Stage. To resize the image, change the dimensions in the properties box atthe bottom of the screen.

(You choose what text to add in frame 41 - it could be something like, 'Wehave the Solution')

13. You should now have three different sections for your

advert and be at frame 61:

Don’t forget that this is just an example – you can create

your own version – add in what fits with your design!

14. Next we are going to add in a Motion Tween. This will

make the ‘Pizzalicious’ name zoom in from the distance.

Type the work Pizzalicious into a new textbox. Change the

font, colour and size until you are happy with the look.

On Frame 61:

20. Next press F8 on your keyboard (if nothing happens, check

to see if your function lock key is selected). You should

see the ‘Convert to Symbol’ window appear:

21. Give the symbol a name e.g. ‘Title’ make sure the Movie

clip option is selected and then press OK.

22. Hover over frame 81,

right-click and select

‘Insert Keyframe’:

23. Go back and click on frame 61. Click on the back arrow

(top left of your screen) and right-click on your Pizzalicious

symbol.

Select the ‘Free Transform’ option:

Make sure the Pizzalicious box is selected.

24. Drag the corner of your Pizzalicious title and shrink it as

small as you can:

25. Click on frame 61 on the timeline and you should see the

‘Tween’ options appear in the Properties panel:

26. Click on the ‘Tween’ dropdown menu and select ‘Motion’

Page 8: This is where you use Flash to create your own ...northwoodcomputing.weebly.com › uploads › 2 › 1 › 6 › 6 › ... · create a Motion Tween to make Flash animate from the

27. Take a screenshot of your work, paste it into your Word

document and explain what you’ve done (e.g. “I’ve made

the Pizzalicious name zoom in from the middle of the

screen. I turned it into a symbol and then shrunk it. I

create a Motion Tween to make Flash animate from the

small to full size title…..”)

28. Select frame 110, right-click and choose ‘Insert Blank

Keyframe’. If you select the wrong one, undo your work by

pressing ‘Edit’ > ‘Undo’.

29. Your Pizza advert now lasts around 9 seconds. You need to

make it last at least 15 seconds.

Try adding in some additional sections where you can

include pictures, special offers (e.g. “Delivery within 30

mins or your next pizza is free”) or anything else.

30. The best way to end the advert is to include a phone

number for people to use. Just make one up!

You could animate the number using Frame-by-Frame

animation. Add a new blank frame to your animation –

(use the Insert > Insert Blank Keyframe option) on frame 130 )

Page 9: This is where you use Flash to create your own ...northwoodcomputing.weebly.com › uploads › 2 › 1 › 6 › 6 › ... · create a Motion Tween to make Flash animate from the

31. Add a new textbox but just type one number of the phone

number:

32. Right-click on the next frame

and select ‘Insert Keyframe’ –

this will create a copy of your

existing textbox.

33. Type the next number of the phone number:

34. Repeat this – keep using the ‘Insert Keyframe’ option until

you have every digit of the phone number.

35. On the last frame, where the entire number can be see,

press the F5 key about 15 times – this will add in additional

frames to make sure the number stays on the screen.

Go to frame 110.

Page 10: This is where you use Flash to create your own ...northwoodcomputing.weebly.com › uploads › 2 › 1 › 6 › 6 › ... · create a Motion Tween to make Flash animate from the

36. As always, take a screenshot, paste into Word and explain

what you’ve done – explain about ‘Frame-by-Frame’

animation.

37. Check to see how long your animation now lasts – click on

the final frame in the timeline and you’ll see how many

seconds it lasts for:

38. If your advert doesn’t last for 15 seconds, you need to add

some additional frames in. See what you can do…

39. Once you have reached 15 seconds, press File > Publish

Preview > Flash. This will preview your advert.

40. Watch your advert through – is it good enough? Would you

order a pizza? If not, try to think how it could be

improved. Try adding additional images or change colours.

As always, take screenshots and explain the work you are

doing.

For merit, you will need to Loop one individualelement. You will also need to change the framerate. Research online on how to do this!!!
