Pablo Picasso was born more than 120 years ago (1881) in Malaga, Spain.He is famous for being the co-founder of Cubism which is a style of painting where objects of the painting subject are broken up and re-painted in an abstract form.When Pablo was age 7 his father (who was also a painter) gave him artistic training in figure drawing and oil painting.Later on Pablo studied art in Madrid and then went to Paris when he was about 19. In 1900 Paris was considered the art capital of Europe.Picasso's work is divided into periods - The Blue Period (1901-1904), which were sad looking paintings using blue and blue-green colours.The Rose Period (1905-1907), which was a more happy style with orange and pink colours. The African-influenced Period (1908-1909) and The Cubism Period (1909- 1919)
First we discussed about self-portraits children painted themselves
Then The teacher introduced the famous painter Picasso.Children observed Picasso’s self portrait and they discovered that the man was the painter because of the big eyes (one of the kids showing us that.)
Then we observed a Picasso painting .We found out that he used to put profile and enface together in a face. Also we discovered how colorful was the portrait.
We presented a ppt about the life of Picasso and several more paintings on the Interactive board. The children discovered strange faces and they wanted more information.
The next day children
painted their own portraits like Picasso
using waterpaints.
Some other kids
draw portraits
using oilpastels.
Some others were given Picasso face outline and they had to use colors to
draw, cutting from magazines eyes, nose, lips
to glue and create a Picasso Face painting
• In the language lesson we wrote the name of Picasso in Greek .
• Then we found out some more words starting by the same letter in Greek .
• The children colored a Picasso painting first
• Then they cut each letter and glue them in line to create Picasso’s name.
• Another language activity was given.
• They had to connect same letters for Picasso’s name.
Math activity.Pupils wrote how many
eyes, mouths, ears, hands ,noses they had
seen on a Picasso painting
Language activityThey colored first letter
from Picasso’s name and other words starting
from that letter in Greek.

parachute like the colors on the
paintings
