-----Erie follows..The first photo (holodeck next page )shows a portable set up the crew of Niagara built to take

along for port visits. It is a real bear to transport. In an ideal world, this one will be left on our pier, and a second, lighter, improved version will be made. Second photo is the permanent interactive (it all works) mast we have in the Erie Maritime Museum. We used some of Niagara’s old gear to create this – when you stand on the museum floor, it is as if you are 90 ft above the main deck. The crew uses it for training over the winter, and we use it with students in the museum to raise and lower sails, and to tack. We do not permit students aloft in the museum
