17. The v i l l a g e o f N ikko r e c e i v e d i t s name i n t h e 1 7 t h c e n t u r y when t h e mausoleum o f t h e f i r s t Tokugawa shogun, Ieyasu, was b u i l t t h e r e . The Da iya and I n a r i R i v e r s sur round t h e mausoleum complex. T h i s b r i d g e o v e r t h e Daiya R i v e r i s p l a t e d w i t h g o l d and t h e r e f o r e i s known as t h e Golden Br idge . It was t h e o n l y b r i d g e i n 1914.
