Page 2 Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Friends in Christ,
Next weekend, the 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time, is also the Solemnity of Christ the King, the last Sunday in the liturgical year-B. The following Sunday will begin the season of Advent and the liturgi-cal year-C. Remember the Church runs the Season of Grace as three cycles: A, B and C. If one goes to Mass daily in three years one shall have listened to the whole of salvation history, literally, the whole bible. On this 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, the readings highlight the eschatological (end time) realities of Death, Judgment, Heaven/Hell. This is not to frighten or intimidate us. On the con-trary, it is an invitation for us to reflect on the outcome of our lives in view of eternity. More so, it’s an invitation for us to rely on God’s grace as we journey through this valley of tears, beyond the gates of death, to the merciful judgment of God in the hope of heaven. In heaven, our joy and happiness in
union with our relatives who have gone before us with Christ, the pillar of our faith, will experience no boundaries. It will be forever and eternal.
Fittingly, we started the month of November with the Solemnity of All Saints followed by commemoration of the departed souls, praying that the Lord may grant them eternal life in view of our eternal reunion in the life of heaven which He of-fers to us, His chosen ones in Christ. As we draw near to the end of the liturgical calendar and that of the calendar year we are reminded of our mortality and the need to rely on Divine providence for our eternity. May these seasons of Grace help us to persevere in God’s providence for eternal life.
Please join me at 1:00PM on Sunday as we continue to celebrate our 175th Anniversary Year. “Open the Windows to your Faith” will include a presentation on our beautiful stained glass windows by Fr. Jim McKitrick followed by a presen-tation on the Eucharist by Fr. Jerome Koutnik. Hope to see you there.
In Christ.
Fr. Godwin

Vocations Corner: Life can be crazy!
I feel as if lately more often than not when I’m asked “How have you been lately?” I quickly reply without even having to think “It’s been crazy! I’ve been
so busy!” Something tells me I’m not alone in this. Then at the same time too, if I’m honest I have to say that there’s no end in sight to the busyness! This is just the reality of life! But as we struggle with this reality that we can’t avoid, we have to make sure that we keep the reality of God’s presence in our lives at the forefront of our minds as well! I think we can do this in 2 ways. The first is to realize that in the midst many things that we have to do, we can meet the Lord there and try to recognize how He is at work in them. The other thing that we have to do is to make sure that the busyness doesn’t keep us from taking time to invest in our relationship with the Lord. I’ll admit that sometimes after a busy day it is easier to want to relax in front of the T.V. rather than resting with the Lord in prayer. If we want to do His will however, then we need to invest our free time in our relationship with Him. Trust me, it’s worth it and it pays off.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOLIDAY MEALS
The Knights of Columbus are again raising money to provide food for those in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This has been a very rewarding project since the be-ginning. This mission is very simple. We
raise money to buy food and thru a partnership with Meijer we are able to stretch the money a long way. Each food box cost approximately $50.00. We then package the food so that each family has everything they need to prepare a proper holiday meal. 100% of the money donated is spent on food and the families are all from the McHenry Co. ar-ea. Unfortunately the economy has not provided a lot of relief to those in need. Any monetary donation is greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to Knight of Columbus Council 1288 and mail to P.O. Box 148, McHenry, Il. Anyone available to help pack boxes, we will be meeting at Holy Apostle’s Church on Sat. Nov. 21st at 7:30am and again on Dec. 19th at 7:30am. Thank you again for all your support. God bless!
Christmas Meal Help Available: Could you or someone you know benefit from the Knights of Columbus Christmas Meal Program? If so, please con-tact the parish office at 815-385-0025 or [email protected] by December 10th. All names will be treated confidentially. Thank You.
Ladies Guild Bake Sale
Just in time for your Holiday Gatherings!
The St. Patrick Ladies Guild will be having a Bake Sale after all the Masses on Saturday and Sunday, Decem-ber 5th and 6th in the vestibule and at the entrance to the Parish Center. Please help make this sale a success by donating and /or purchasing homemade baked goods. We will be accepting your donations in the Parish Library on Friday, December 4th from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and before each Mass on Saturday and Sunday, December 5th and 6th.
Donations of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, fruit pies, breads, candy, muffins, caramel popcorn and sugar-free items will be greatly appreciated. Please no custard filled items, egg based or custard pies, whipped cream or cream cheese products, including cheesecake. Please label what your item is and indicate if it contains nuts. Please have your baked goods in see-through packaging. If you have any questions please call Gail Cooper at 815-546-5307 or email [email protected].
Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to purchase delicious homemade treats to benefit St. Pat-rick’s. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Don’t know what to bake? Recipes for many delicious desserts are in the St. Patrick’s 175th Anniversary Cookbook, “Our Family Treasures.” The cookbooks are for sale in the Parish Office. Buy your copy today!

Many of us are lucky enough to have paid time off or 'sick days' through our employers. For those who do not enjoy this benefit, even a few days off from work can have a devas-tating financial affect. A single young woman
recently missed several days of work due to a hand injury. The resulting decrease in her paycheck left her unable to meet her rent payment or to buy groceries. Vincentians provided food, a pledge toward part of her rent and a re-ferral to the township for additional rent assistance. Your prayerful support and donations enabled this young lady to meet her obligations and to continue to live with dignity in our community.
Proverbs 22:9 Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.
Please contact Carla Odahowski at the parish office (815-385-0025 or [email protected]) if you have a food service industry certification or would you be willing to take the necessary courses to become certified?
Word of Life
“If we ask him, Jesus will be with us every step of the way, giving us the grace we need. And his plans are wildly more fulfilling than we can imagine.”

While we await Jesus’ coming let us continue to live for Him and live in His love in all we do, especially in our marriage relationship. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekends are Nov. 20-22 in Rockford, IL; Jan. 22-24, 2016 in Brookfield, WI and Feb. 12-14 in Crystal Lake, IL. Early registration is highly recommended. Baptism of Infants: To schedule a Baptism, please begin by calling the parish office. Baptism is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month immediately after the 11AM Mass. Please consider scheduling your child’s Baptism before your child is born to ensure an opening in the month of your choice. In addition, a Baptismal preparation class is required for the parents. This class is offered on the 1st Sun-day of each month after the 9AM Mass. Sign-up is required and you may take the class before your child is born.
Sacraments
Sacrament of Marriage: At St. Patrick, couples planning to marry need to meet with the Pastor before a wedding date can be set. Please contact the parish office to setup an initial meeting at least 6 months prior to any requested marriage date. This initial meeting will give you an over-view of the requirements for marriage and the preparation required. At least one of the couple, or their parents, must be regis-tered parishioners for at least 6 months and be active participating members of St. Patrick Church in order to be married at the church. Both individuals must be at least 19 years of age.
