THIRD SUNDAY OF YEAR (B) SUNDAY 21ST JANUARY 2018
Such was the magnetism of Jesus, that the fishermen immediately left their nets to follow him. He was not
merely a preacher but someone who commanded authority in what he said and did. Our worship today offers us the chance to renew our own enthusiasm and commitment to follow him in the everyday workings of our lives.
When things are not going well, the Lord gets Himself involved in history, he sorts the situation, and goes forward with us. Think of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, of that list: this one begets that one, and that one begets this one, and so on. … In that story there are men and women who are sinners. How did the Lord work it all out? He stepped in, He straightened the path, He put things right. Think of the great David, a great sinner, and then a great saint. The Lord knows. When the Lord tells us: “With eternal love, I have loved you,” He is referring to this. The Lord has been thinking of us for many generations—of each and every one of us.” Do you have to perfect to be called? Is he Lord with you when you make mistake? How does he show his eternal live?

CLEANING TEAM ROTA Whilst it is everyone’s responsibility, many thanks to those parishioners who make a special effort to keep our Church clean and tidy. Please collect a rota from the Church noticeboard for this year.
NEW HYMNS BOOKS We had to replace the hymn books that we had only bought last year due to their damaged condition from (just) usage in the Church. The new replacement hymn books have a protective clear plastic sleeve. After using please put the hymn books back flat in the shelving unit and not standing upright as this may damage the sleeve.
REMINDER NO FOOD AND DRINK IN THE CHURCH
Unless there is a health condition, please do not bring food and/or drink into the Church. There should be no need to feed children for the duration of the mass that usually only lasts for an hour. Let us keep God’s house neat, clean and tidy. Please respect and honour God’s house by keeping silent when in the Church and help others pray without disturbance. Thank you.
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS The Catholic Church in England and Wales will hold a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress in Liverpool from the 7th—9th SEPTEMBER 2018. It is a gathering of clergy, religious and laity that promotes an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church. The last International Eucharistic Congress in this country was held in 1908. Each school and parish will participate by sending delegates. If you are interested in representing our Parish please contact the Parish Office. There is an information session on SATURDAY 7th FEBRUARY at the Centre for Catholic Formation at Tooting Bec. Please see the Church noticeboard for more details.
PADRE PIO PRAYER GROUP Upon the response of the recent Padre Pio talk, our Parish wishes to start a Padre Pio Group founded on the spirituality of Padre Pio. If you wish to know more, please come to the informal meeting on MONDAY 19th FEBRUARY at 7pm in the Presbytery meeting room.
PILGRIMAGE TO FATIMA The Parish is organising a Pilgrimage to Fatima 9th—12th APRIL 2018. All those who wish to book a place are requested to complete a booking form that will be available from the Parish Office.
PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND JUNE 2018
Subsequent to booking the pilgrimage to
Poland from 22—26 June 2018 (4 nights), British Airways changed the flight times that in turn has altered the pilgrimage dates to 23rd-28th June (5 nights). We will have an extra night’s stay in Poland and hence there are a few changes to the initial itinerary. Also there may be scope for more people to come on this pilgrimage. We will advise people on the waiting list who may now get a chance to join us.
For those who had already booked to go on the pilgrimage to Poland the Parish Secretary has sent you the revised both itinerary and booking form for you to confirm you are still happy with the new arrangements as there is now an additional £60 cost for the extra night’s stay & meal
