The British Council in France is now running a range of Cambridge accredited teacher training courses for aspiring teachers of English. Our CELTA tutors are recognised international experts with a track record of success. They incorporate the most up-to-date teaching methodologies. WHAT IS CELTA? (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Internationally recognised, the Cambridge CELTA qualification is the gateway to teaching English as a foreign language and is a requirement for any teacher seeking employment with quality language teaching institutions at home and abroad. The course includes 140 contact hours and is validated and certified by Cambridge English Language Assessment which forms part of the University of Cambridge. It includes a balance of input sessions covering issues of methodology, classroom management, and approaches to different lesson types, as well as both experienced teacher and peer lesson observations and authentic classroom teaching practice with adult learners. Supported by teaching observations you will gain a solid, practical foundation in planning and teaching, using a student-centred approach. THE CELTA IS FOR YOU •  if you have little or no previous English language teaching experience •  if you have some experience but little previous training  •    you must be at least 20 years old and have a certificate which allows  entry into higher education in your country (e.g. BAC, A-levels, etc) •  you must also have a proficiency (C1/C2) level of English.  COURSE OBJECTIVES •  to become familiar with the principles of effective teaching •  to acquire practical skills for teaching English to adult learners •  to apply your learning in a real teaching context. TOPICS COVERED •  the teaching and learning context •  language analysis and awareness •  language skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing •  planning and resources for different teaching contexts •  developing teaching skills and professionalism. DATES AND FEES 8 September - 3 October 2014 in Lyon; 19 November - 16 December 2014 in Paris Fees: 1850 € (this includes the Cambridge registration fee) Subject to final approval by Cambridge English Language Assessment.
