WHAT IS DReAMS?

DReAMS Project, A Glimpse…

• Realising DReAMS stands for Development of Resources and Access to Municipal Services

• It introduces two tested tools: ecoBUDGET and PDMS among local authorities

• Project duration is three years: January 16, 2010 to January 16, 2013

• Support Local Authorities to achieve sustainability in their services and urban governance and assist in the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals 1 and 7

• Improve the capacity of the local authorities in environmental management and poverty reduction

• Build the capacity of non-state (non-government) actors and local communities to support and monitor the actions undertaken by local authorities

other local governments within the country• Local governments with interest

• Heightened vulnerability to disasters

• Dependency on environmental resources for livelihood

• Heightened risk of over-extraction due to this dependency

• Community stewardship over environment and natural resources

• The use of ecoBudget and PDMS as an effective tool for improved management of these resources

• A change in the way local governments deliver services, consistent with the priorities of Rio+20:“Green Economy”
