We have joined forces to create the Think About Your Eyes Coalition
What is Think About Your Eyes?

•Think About Your Eyes is a multi-million dollar consumer education program.
• It is designed to increase public awareness of the importance of vision health and comprehensive eye exams.

Why Are We Doing This?
• An estimated 61 million adults in the United States are at high risk for serious vision loss, but only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months.
• Approximately 14 million individuals aged 12 years and older have visual impairment, among which more than 80% could be corrected to good vision with refractive correction. (Source: CDC)

We have a Call to Action!
• The need for this kind of public education effort is profound and as industry leaders we have a responsibility to act.
• Lead funding for the coalition has been provided by Luxottica, Essilor and VSP Global and we will seek additional partners as the effort grows.
• We believe we can have a greater positive impact by working together and inviting others to join us in this important effort.

What Are Our Objectives?
• To grow the industry for all
• Supporting the eye care professionals who help millions to see better
• Making healthy vision and the role comprehensive eye exams play in monitoring overall health top of mind.

We Will Make a Difference!
• Comprehensive eye exams provide preventative benefits such as detection of:
• Hypertension• Cardiovascular disease• High cholesterol• Glaucoma• Cataracts• Diabetes• and other diseases.

Expanding a Successful Test
• The Coalition concept has been tested in a pilot over the last two years in Dallas, Texas.
• Results were very successful, showing significant improved public awareness about overall eye health and increases in eye exams.• Key Consumer Learnings:
• 95% post-awareness of the importance of eye exams• Health-related messages gain the most awareness - Eye disease +9% awareness
• Based on this model, the Coalition has developed a consumer education campaign that will be launch in April 2010.

The Go Forward Plan

A Strong Multimedia Campaign• The new campaign will consist of Television & Radio with messages proven to motivate eye exams.
School Performance: Regular and complete eye exams ensure your child has the best possible vision needed for strong school performance.
Eye Disease: Regular and complete eye exams ensure early detection and prevention of major eye disease.
Eye Fatigue: Eye strain, vision-related headaches, and eye fatigue are minimized with technologically advanced lenses available from eye-care professionals.
