Valerie Cohen decided to add Internet of Things expertise to her skillset as Business Technology Analyst in 2016 and started by taking the “Introduction to ThingWorx” training class offered by PTC University. She also completed the online Udemy course “Fundamentals of IoT Development with ThingWorx”. In order to gain practical skills, she has worked on some small demonstrations in her spare time and will soon be working on her first job-related ThingWorx project.

How did you prepare for the exam?

“Within two weeks of completing the instructor led Intro course, I began studying by reviewing the eLearning course and doing the exercises. I wrote down key info, and created flashcards with said information.

I reviewed specific sections for overall understanding, spending a lot of time examining the differences and similarities between infotables, data tables, streams, and value streams.”

What was your objective for getting certified?

“My objective for getting certified is to be able to go to a client ready to build whatever they request in ThingWorx and explain my choices to them when asked.”

ThingWorx Developer Associate Certification This certification validates the ability to model a ThingWorx application using Thing Templates and Things. Recipients of this certification are also able to secure a ThingWorx application and define the best connectivity technology for given use cases.
