It’s a common knowledge and a basic fact that is, that avoiding food with high sugar content is a good way to prevent and control diabetes from getting worse. However, it is not only that. It’s just part of the whole picture. Dealing with diabetes may not be difficult especially when you are already diagnosed. There are things and steps that you have to follow, right kind of food to eat and the right activities to do not to mention the kind of treatment to get.

Type II diabetes is the kind of diabetes which is the inability of the cells to use insulin properly which is caused usually by high alcohol intake, obesity, high fat diet, high blood pressure and family history of diabetes. Among the diabetic patients these days, it has been found out that 90% has type II diabetes making it the most common kind of this disease. The risk also starts to grow as the person ages.

With this, we can say that some of us right now might be having this kind of diabetes without us knowing it or we might have been already diagnosed and we are taking the treatments for granted. Everybody has to understand that ignoring the treatments and not following the right things to do, not only in diabetes but in all kind of diseases, leads us to nowhere but death. Going to the doctor religiously is one necessary thing but some self-help methods could also help us recover faster.

Eating the right kind of food would control the high sugar level of the body. What are those foods that diabetic people have to eat? These are organ meats such as liver, kidneys and heart; fish and all kinds of seafood; butter and cheese and more of fruits and vegetables. It’s also a wrong notion that diabetic people are deprived of the kinds of food that they want to eat. Of course not! The key to controlling and managing diabetes especially type II diabetes is to have a healthy diet. This means that you don’t need to suppress yourself from things that you want to eat but you just have to eat moderately.

However, these things won’t be enough thus there are some other things that you need to do to pair your diabetic diet. Preventing yourself from being too fat or being obese is one important thing to be able to control the blood sugar level in the body and to increase the risk of complications. Exercise at least 3 times a week and drink plenty of water. You also have to remember that you have to avoid smoking and drinking too much alcohol when diagnosed with diabetes. Besides, we all know that it is not only when we have diabetes that we avoid smoking and drinking. It is enjoined by most doctors to prevent different illnesses.

Doing these things would surely control your diabetes. Although type II diabetes is easy to cure, rigid following of the precautionary measures are necessary.
